Issues getting HA OS VM working on Dell Optiplex

Following the Home Assistant installation instructions, I've successfully installed Linux version of HA OS (VM) onto Virtual Box on my home Windows 10 PC and can connect using homeassistant.local:8123. However, I actually wanted to configure a dedicated PC for Home Assistant and therefore I bought a Dell Optiplex 3020 for this purpose. Following the same installation instructions I previously used I have successfully installed and can run up on Virtual Box, the HA operating system and CLI. However, I am unable to connect to HA locally using homeassistant.local:8123 or by using the IP address instead.

I've tried reinstalling HA OS on the VM and I've tried turning off the firewall, but I can't get it to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated ...

Did you share the network card?

Does the Dell not support HA OS direct?
You can ditch all the VM stuff then (unless your doing something else with it as well)

GREENSLADE_GL52_6LH Is that your postcode and even your name in your username? You should consider changing it to be more secure.

Ditto on dumping windows and VM. Go HA OS direct.

Personally, I think an optiplex is a big overkill for HA on it's own. A waste of energy too - the fan in an optilex will use more power than a pi or similar!
