Goodbye to the EM115

Just had the grid EM115 replaced with a 'GEM120CTM'. It is IEC62053-21 Class 1.0 classified. I assume that GEM stands for Givenergy Energy Meter. It looks like the default screen/display is the current power in Watts. They didn't change the CT clamp. With both inverters paused and solar switched off I assumed that it should agree with the Home Display (SMET2). There is also a G100 meter - it agrees with the Home Display. However with the oven on the HD shows 2.06kW, the G100 meter the same - but the GEM says 590W.
This Grid meter is important to the Givenergy system - is the GEM a heap of junk, wrong CT clamp or am I looking at the wrong thing.
100Amp CT clamps are typically accurate to plus or minus 1% from 10 to 90 Amps. Below 10 they are less accurate. The installer is saying that there is nothing wrong - is he talking out of his Foul Gas Exhaust sphincter?

Slartibartfast didn't replace the CT with a different meter make/model and now the power measurement is out by a factor of 4. Hmm...

stevelewis ct’s are ct’s - just different ratios. So it may be the meter wasn’t setup to suit the ratio. Though I would have thought most domestic meters are 100A.

Or is it the secondary ratio is now 1A not 5A? Though you would expect a different error.

Actually looking at the meter reference it could be a 120a meter. So that could make my theory possible.

OK - Givenergy responded to my question. The two CT clamp are different - hence both the meter and CT clamp have to be changed.
I was a bit shocked by the reply. I sent the question - e-mail- at 11:51. The reply came through at 11:59. It used to take them weeks or months to reply - are things changing?

From an image of the GEM120CTM the label shows '230 V 0.25-5(45) A 50 Hz 3K6', and it is described as a 45 A direct connected, 100 A CT connected meter.

The EM115 shows '1-20(100) A', so it is not surprising that the CT ratio used is different between the 2 meters.

It looks like the gem120 meter is an eastron sdm 120 meter with the sd letters changed to ge. Had a system installed a couple of weeks ago with one of these but unfortunately it's not been possible to get the meter working. Paid to have a givenergy engineer come to look but rather disappointing they are not able to provide a date when they can visit.

Ben472 Our installer was fitting two EM115s so was able to prove that one was faulty by swapping over the good one to each inverter in turn. EM115 was replaced the day after with one that worked. Maybe ask your installer to swap it out?
