HIya, this might be a silly question but i have a ac coupled with a 5.2 kw battery.
if i increased my solar PV and lets say 4kw was going to the ac coupled and the battery is full what would happen as i think the ac coupled can only export 3kw back to the grid.
thanks

If the battery was full, the solar wouldn't end up on the AC connected battery.

The AC "calls for power" when it sees and export and backs off as that drops. It aims to have a near zero import/export at all times - assuming it's got room in the battery.

So in that case the solar would go out to the grid, plus power any household appliances too.

thanks for that. i was worried i would kill the ac coupled invertor by sending 4 kw to it when it can only accept 3kw now i know it bypasses it thats great

But you do need to be aware that if you add more panels (as you seem to be suggesting), you will need to check that your panel string voltage does not exceed the capability of the inverter. Your installer should be able to check this.

If you have an AC3 inverter, this can take two separate solar strings, so this might be an option - depending on exactly where you are installing the new panels.

I thought the ac3 was AC coupled only?

positor1 Sorry. I was mixing up my AC3 with my solar inverter!

But the comment may still be valid, for whatever solar inverter is being used.

positor1 It is. It monitors the output from another solar inverter. So my system as example I have 2 solar systems facing East / West and my AC3 monitors and will charge from both generation sources. You do not directly send power the AC3, don't worry :-)

I was being British, I was fairly sure I was correct but I didnt want to tell someone they were wrong..haha

I have a two string system. Both strings feed into the Solis inverter, and then there is a single connection to the AC3 to charge the battery
