Battery discharging as soon as it fully charged

My battery is usually fully charged by 03:00 when it starts to power the house, but I want to use the cheap rate from the grid till 04:30 (Octopus Go). Obviously, the load at 03:00 is minimal, but I will shortly be charging an EV at this time. Will it deplete the battery?
The unit is set at ECO mode
Any advice appreciated

ECO plus timed charge period 0:30-4:30 for Go. That's extactly what I get. I do not have any tariff automations set.

As @cluelesscris said, just set the inverter to ECO mode and set the timed charge period to be the same for both your EV charger and the Givenergy inverter. The Givenergy battery won't discharge to meet house demand (or EV) while in the timed charge period unless the Target State of Charge (ie the SoC you want the battery to have at the end of the charge period) is lower than the actual SoC at the beginning of the period. eg If your target SoC is 60% and the battery is at 80% at the start of the charge period, the battery will discharge to meet house load (and EV) until it reaches 60%.

Thanks for your response Tim, but my inverter does not appear to follow these rules
(I tried to add a screenshot but that does seem to work)
Eco mode is set with 00:30 -04:30 as charge time
Battery always charges to 100%
I can't see how to review the SoC
Any more thoughts?

BernieC the "charge to" percentage doesn't work for some reason, I got told it's a firmware issue. Mine does the same, despite the setting being changed by both myself and GE technical support, it always charges to 100%

Cdent That's odd. I modify mine every day to suit projected generation for the next day and it does exactly what I tell it to do.

One option might be to reduce the charge rate so it takes longer to get to 100% charge?

cluelesscris it's very annoying, hopefully it'll be next on the list once they've figured out the SoC firmware.

No doubt fixing this would break the SoC fix though 🤣

BernieC I can't see how to review the SoC

SoC is on the home page for both the portal and app. The Charge to % is on the Timed Charge tab in the portal and System Modes (cog at top right) in the app. Evidently, some people have experienced problems with the Charge to % working correctly. However, on another post @Karen confirmed their AC3 does stop at the Charge to % and I can confirm that the gen 1 HY5 also works. Not sure what kit @cluelesscris has but it works for them too.

Reducing the charge rate to prevent 100% charge is a work around, but you shouldn't have to do this if the settings are correct.

@BernieC I have played with the charge timings a bit and confirm that the battery should not discharge while you have a charge time set.
In the cold spell the other week I had it set to keep charging until 0800 so I made good use of the car preheat on mains. The house didn't take anything from the battery until the end of the charge time. Should be the same for your 0430 end time.

I also had other issues similar to what you are describing and got GE out to fix it. New board in the battery and inverter and all is good now. Granted I have not played with the charge-to % yet as we are happy to charge fully each night.

That's not correct.
The battery can and will discharge during a Timed Charge period if the actual SoC is higher than the requested SoC. For example, if you set the Timed Charge SoC to 50% and the battery enters the Timed Charge period above that level it will discharge down to 50% to meet any load within that period. It will then maintain itself at 50% until the Timed Charge period ends.

If there is no load on the battery then it is possible to the Timed Charge period above the requested SoC.

The SoC is not an issue. It charges to 100% which is what I want (for the record I'd like to know why anyone would not want 100%)

For example, if the weather forecast is suitable for good generation then you may want the batteries to charge using the PV output. I am on SEG as I use intelligent Octopus, which means that I get a paltry £0.045 for every kWh that I export. To charge the batteries I pay £0.075 for every kWh that I put in the batteries. In summertime in perfect conditions, I only want to charge the batteries enough to cover the house load up until the PV generation can carry it and charge the batteries.
