Why does my dashboard appear to show 321W solar…with 272W Load with 88% battery but sending 47W to the grid…I don’t have a feed in type tariff…should my solar not top up my battery…?

ONEIL You will always see a small amount of importing and exporting, as the system tries to stay balanced. Export happens regardless of any export agreement.

Don't panic - it happens to everyone and actually amounts to peanuts. It seems as though you need a certain amount to kickstart the directing to the battery - not an engineer - so no technical reason I can give - just observation.

But get yourself organised with a SEG tariff (unless you are on the old FIT tariff)- as solar production increases you will literally be throwing money to the grid. You need your MCS certificate, and a copy of the letter or email from the DNO - your installer should provide these. You don't get much, but every little helps at the moment. You can get your SEG from any supplier - it doesn't have to be the one you buy your electricity from. Best rates are if you also get your electricity from the supplier (Octopus and I think EDF,) but some won't accept you for SEG with a battery.

I think (don't quote me on it) this is part of the ramp-up/ramp-down of the inverter.
There is always a lag of 5-25 seconds when the decision to charge, discharge, export, use solar only etc.
Software updates have brought this time down to a smaller time delay and I hope that it will be down to sub second at some point in time so the 'switch' is negligible to you as an ed user looking at the app.
