I have noticed that on occasions my solar and battery have been feeding the mains despite the battery only being partially charged and the solar producing excess power. I would have thought that any excess solar power would go to the battery and non to the mains
bryangrayson Are you seeing this on the app or in the portal? Could you post an image of your power graphs from the portal or be a bit more specific about numbers?
If it is only a few tens of watts - don't panic. The system jiggles about a bit importing and exporting to the grid to keep in balance. In monetary terms it is peanuts. Mine is charging the battery as we speak, a few minutes ago it was importing 28W, now its exporting 35W. It's all normal. Also if you switch on a major appliance and there is a sudden draw on energy you will get a sharp import peak because of the time lag in the battery responding to the request for power. This looks alarming on the graphs but only lasts a few seconds in real time, so don't worry if you see that too.
If these 'occasions' are brief peaks you can ignore them. Actually, my advice is not to look at the 'now' panel on the portal at all. Its a 10 minute snapshot and is practally useless for understanding what is going on with your system. Using the APP in local (home) mode it best but it is also a snapshot every 10 seconds. Watch for at least 30 seconds to get a feel for what is really going on.
The reason you see misleading peaks is that the inverter does respond to load and generation instantaneuosly. It takes a few seconds to ramp up or down as required. Snap shots during these periods will be misleading.

yesterday I was producing around 2kw at one point and it had been charging the battery fine. Then generation dropped off for a while and was not enough to cover the house on it's own.
When it jumped back up to 2.3kw... it started sending around 1.6kw to the grid and not a single watt to the battery.
I kept looking at it waiting for it to switch back to battery and it didn't.
So I forced the battery into charge mode... and as soon as I saw it switch to charging the battery from solar & grid... I set it back to normal.
The graphs show that this happens frequently... but I can't tell if it's enough to make much of a difference. Over a month I've sent less than 2kwh back to the grid in total... but I'm not sure that includes all of those little trickles I see. A few hundred watts here and there often, don't seem to get recorded.
I'd need to check the meters to see exactly what they're reading, but recuperating from surgery at the moment and can't climb over stuff to read the meters in the garage right now.
Anomnomnomaly Were you on the portal? This only rfreshes every 10 minutes (and sometimes get's stuck). Ignore brief peaks on the graph as it's when the inverter is ramping. If you want to be sure check the export reading on your smart meter. You will find any export in these peaks is minimal.
No this was in the app... and today the app showed it jump from 12% battery charge to 100%... I've created a post about it (you may have already seen it)
Can't even force a battery discharge through the app either... it's a great day with loads of generation... and it's all being wasted to the grid (no export set up yet) and come this evening, we'll lose battery power in about 20 mins because there's only 12% in the battery.

I always use the web portal for settings and the app to just view what's going on.
Too many comments about the app settings being wrong and/or causing unexpected things to happen.
