Battery Just Jumped from 12% to 100%

I was just looking at the system as it's good weather and getting a good amount of sun already today, was putting a reasonable amount into the battery... I saw as it updated rising to 12%

Then the next time it updated it had jumped to 100% after about 30 seconds of getting a 2kw boost of power.

Now I'm no math expert... but a 5.2kwh battery charging at it's max rate of 2.6kw, will take 2hrs to fully charge from zero.

22kw for 30 seconds is not enough to make it jump from 12% to 100%.

I was convinced this happened the other week too... battery reported 100% charge, but when it got down to 47% left, it suddenly went to zero% ignoring the 4% residual charge it's supposed to leave.

Is this a known problem?

Yes. Search the forum with '100%' and you'll find tons of info on it.

Thanks... I've also just tried to force a battery discharge and it refused to do anything... the house was running from solar and grid still and not discharging anything.

So it's not charging, it only truly has 12% of power and you can't discharge it.

Is there anyway to reset it?

Should I reboot the inverter through the portal... turn the power off to it all and back on?

Anomnomnomaly I have been lucky enough not to have the problem so I actually can't answer that question. I'm sure someone else will step in to guide you. From memory I think it should sort itself out but once it has happened once it may happen again. A common piece of advice is to manage the battery so it charges full cycle regularly. This apparently resets the state of charge % the inverter sees from the battery. But there's plenty on here with much beeter knowledge than me.

I've just been charging it from solar only, so it never really gets a full charge in this weather.

I'll be running the airfryer in a little while for lunch... so that will hoepfully give it a bit of a discharge.

Generated 2.62kwh today, only 610wh when to the battery...

I'll have to charge the battery from the grid every few days... I thought that was pointless as we get no cheap rate tariff... on a fixed rate until sept that is thankfully protecting us from price rises. Does charging it between 1-4am to 70% sound about right?

Anomnomnomaly I have generated 3.6kw today and charge my battery to 50% last night. Yesterday wasn't quite so sunny so I charged to 65% overnight. I look at the forecast and use my experience to set a nightly charge (I'm on go go get cheaper rate 4 hours overnight).

My app/portal haven't updated in almost 4hrs... so no idea what I've generated It was just over 2kwh at 11am... yesterday it was just 5.1kwh plus another 1.9kwh from the battery giving me a total of 7kwh, and brought in 7.8kwh from the grid... That's a medium/heavy use day. had the washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher on... but not at the same time.

Weather forecast indicated today would be about the same... can't tell and by the time it eventually does update... I suspect I'll be missing a few hrs again.

Router says the inverter isn't connected to the wifi, but the app does and I've been getting live readings all day. Portal is also continuing to update live readings (delayed) and that's saying we've done 4.5kwh today so far.

I've got the bug where it charges to 81% then jumps to 100% as it is actually full at 81% it's just misreading the SOC then the BMS says no more I'm full.
I think it's also doing the same at the bottom end too but it's less obvious/dramatic. I'm only discharging about 14KWh to get to 5% when it should be around 16KWh.
Support said they are working on new firmware which seems to be being discussed in the beta thread.

The SoC issue is gone, they are now tweaking it to get the required capacity back

Brave words TheDragon (GivEnergy) ! Perhaps you are getting a touch too close to your friends at GE, and their rash behavior is rubbing off on you!

TheDragon (GivEnergy) What makes you say that? Only yesterday I posted an illustration of an SOC jump on my system running the beta software. The SOC issue is definitely not gone for me!
