I have noticed that my battery douse not fully discharge at night but I am importing energy from the grid.
Is this normal and if not how can ensure it douse fully discharge. It is leaving around 36w or 20% in the battery.
battery not fully discharging
Here is a snapshot of the readings/Users/bryangrayson/Desktop/Screenshot 2023-02-08 at 12.07.51.png

bryangrayson you'll need to use something like imgbb to provide a screenshot.
What do you mean by 36w or 20%, neither of those would mean the same thing.
We'd also need to know what battery you have
Inverter Model
GIV-AC3.0
I have tried to get a screen shot but am having problems doing so as I am not tech minded.
When I run the mouse along the time line for the night period it shows on average that the battery percentage is still 20 to 25% charged. This remains more or less the same until the solar starts to charge the battery.
I suspect it is normal to keep a 20% charge in the battery but need confirmation of this.
My battery details are below.
Software Version
D0.535-A0.535
Wi-Fi Serial
WO2237G340
Battery Type
Lithium-ion
Battery Capacity
102 Ah | 5.22 kWh | (1 Pack)
bryangrayson Go to your web portal and select Inverter - Settings - Battery Options. Check that your reserve is not set to 20%. It should be set to 4% (minimum allowed by Givenergy) to fully utilise the battery capacity.
bryangrayson No idea but some people like to have a higher reserve just in case there's a power cut; it's a personal choice as to what you want from your system and how you want to use it.
Just been reading a bit on lithium batteries and someone said that the higher the reserve percentage the more cycles you get out of the battery therefor extending the life of the battery. Do not know if its true but will have to check
bryangrayson If you set the reserve to 100%, it should last years and years 😆
Some of the Givenergy batteries have a 10 year, unlimited cycles warranty, others are limited by throughput but AFAIK all have software buffers at the top and bottom of the charging range to extend life.
