We have had our PV system up and running since early December. It comprises 3.2 kw/h of panels a hybrid inverter with 9.5 kw battery and a zappi charger. We dont have an EV at the moment and had the zappi for future proofing. I was wondering about getting an Eddi to use the excess power generated in the summer to run the immersion. What would i need to check if I wanted to fit one?
Nah, your installer will say if you can have one or not. But other people with GE kit have Eddi's etc
you will meed an extra ct clamp so that eddi knows when the batteries are charging/exporting unless the zappi kit included this -then eddi and zappi will share CT clamp data.
positor1 The Zappi kit does include a grid CT but you can fit additional ones to display solar on the myEnergi app.

Yes I am aware and have eddi but not zappi, my comment was directly at richardbarton as his existing zappi may have the battery ct fitted (should have), he may even have a harvi ct wirless sender. there was not enough detail in the post to know.
You'll have to forgive me as I'm not up to speed with the solar sid side of things. My installer didn't really explain much. I do have two CT clamps on the incoming live cable. I don't have the harvi.
I added an Eddi to a GE plus Zappi setup, I'm very happy with the Eddi. In terms of CTs the Zappi already had grid and solar; the Eddi came with a single CT so this was put on the Giv Inverter and configured as Battery at the Zappi (which was set as Master).
Using Zappi and Battery together they tended to get into a fight which led to battery drain if I took my eye off the system. The Eddi doesn't quite get the same sort of fight but with the current configuration can get into a race to grab excess solar - a race the battery loses! Now in time this can all be sorted out, I'm very confident, it will all be settings and I need some better solar days for that setup.
As a device the Eddi is a very good piece of kit - the ability to use small excess, like a few hundred watts, is welcome. I'm absolutely sure when the solar yield maximises it will work with a charging battery / house load. Recommended.
I was considering an Eddi for quite a while, but since Octopus increased their export tariff last year I've been fairly certain that it wouldn't be worth it (I have an ASHP too which I'm pretty confident is more efficient than the immersion heater in my tank but I haven't crunched numbers).
