Hi just noticed that I now have option to update the firmware and trying to find out what the new version is and what has been fixed. Looked briefly on the Wiki but can not see anything. The search feature here gives too many results. Anyone know what the new version number is and what it does? Cheers

M_J what is the new one offered?

Me too, and I cannot see on the portal what is being offered - doesn't even tell me if it is an inverter or BMS update?

Where does the request to update appear?

idrobbo I'm intrigued.
It can only be 3008.

If 3011 that was a beta, that shouldn't have been numbered as the next production. As it failed beta testing

idrobbo Look on the portal/Inverter/Software page

Hi I can't tell, maybe because I am being dumb but it does not show. I just noticed that the update firmware button had become active so thought some new fix was being rolled out and tried to find out what it was, but failed...

🙁

BTW I did check the Whats new link and last update on that was 28/9/22 and the last Firmware note was 9th May 2022 - So if a new version 3008 has been made available putting notes on What's New would be a quick win and I hope easy to do?

FYI - it is not a request to update it just shows that an update is available. So I just noticed it had become active since I last updated in June last year.

The Button turns Green and you see text as follows above the button

"Click the button below to upgrade your system software
This process will take 5 - 30 minutes, depending on which software your system already has
Please ensure that the inverter has both a grid and internet connection during this time
Once the process has started, you may close this page and the update will continue in the background

The inverter will be updated. During the update procedure, the inverter will beep and its lights will flash. If the update is successful, the inverter will also reboot"

Thanks chaps, I had looked all through there, so must just assume it’s not an offering to me - yet. I just wondered if there should be somewhere hidden away I hadn’t found.

OK so lets rephrase the question

Is 3008 the latest firmware version?

When was it released?

If so where are the notes saying what it fixes?

M_J I think 3007 is the latest BMS that users could upgrade to themselves through the portal. Since then some batteries have come from the factory with 3008 and 3009. These are not available for customers to download from the portal, but I believe in some instances GE support have pushed those versions to customers to try to resolve some issues.

I have had 3009 on a 5.2kW battery since October without issue, just fwiw... It came pre-installed.

My 9.5 is on 3009.

OK thanks gents...

IMO there needs to be some place I can see what 3009 replaced and what features it added, but call me an old software dev / manager who cared about keeping our customer base informed...

😉

So while I seem to have access to a new version, I don't know what that version is and what it fixes. So until I know that I will not update and keep an eye on the forum every now and then...

why do I have this formware when the client already shows a newer one for my inverter? And I don't have a firmware upgrade offer??? Where is the problem?

looks like it was updated on the 5th May - Not that any of that makes much sense to me - but seems that latest version is 3012 - Mind you the other versions between 3007 to 3012 have not been documented and this total lack of basic and simple configuration management makes me wonder if I should trust GivEnergy as software Devs. - Anyway too late as I am in their domain.... 🙁

  1. Modify the offset for OCV while charging & discharging2. Capacity fix for 8.2 and 9.5 batteries
  2. Newly added MCU current acquisition: 0-offset calibration under static state; AFE added 0-offset calibration
  3. The converted AFE current is used for the Ah integral
  4. The Over voltage alarm to 57v, overvoltage current limiting
  5. Modify static discharge calibration look-up table as the capacity changes (Ages); Older batteries were alarming in calibration
  6. Unvervoltage threshold 46v, battery goes idle
  7. Above 56v, limit the current to 0.1c and then continue to calibrate upward, calibrate to 90% when the temperature is lower than 20°C, and calibrate to 95% when the temperature is higher
Set calibration thresholds, for under 20C and over 25C. A warm battery will hold more energy.
  8. Modify the discharge voltage to 2810mv per cell and reduce the load to 0.01C; recover after 1 hour or cells are greater than 3200mv (Charging)
  9. The OCV calibration is changed to below 50%, and the table lookup value can be calibrated below 20%
  10. After the last calibration, you can continue to calibrate if the current is less than 0.8A. 24hr timer is not used for OCV in idle, it can happen whenever.
  11. Discharge calibration, look-up table value to make up the offset value; charge calibration, look-up table to make up the difference with the discharge map table + 15mv
  12. Allow OCV to run again > 20% if not successful previous (Inverter OCV flag not set)
  13. while charging/discharging (BMS Online); OCV in progress is calibrated using the default Penghui MAP table
