I'm on Cosy at the moment and the standard 15p/kWh export tariff, I've tried switching through the website and it asks for MCS certificate and DNO letter which I have already provided to get on my current export tariff. Is it better to just call up tomorrow for a quicker switch? For other people that have switched, how long did it take to come through? I was planning on switching in a month or so, but the way things are going, I'll be better off right now.
How long does it take to switch to Flux from another Octopus tariff?

I think people have done it on the phone. Import swapped immediately and export was the next morning if I recall correctly?
Odd that it's asking to provide the same documents again so yeah I'd just call them.
Hi, I'm an ex- Bulb newbie as well as a solar newbie and switched from standard variable to Flux on Friday. However, I'm already out of my depth! Just read through the threads, they said! I tried that. When I see someone mention raspberry pie my first question would be calorific value not ... whatever ...
Anyway, I think everything is just working in Eco mode and I'm letting it do its thing until I can try and get my head around what everything is supposed to mean.
However, I am actually at home most of the day and can simply put appliances on when the sun shines (which seems the most cost-effective thing to do) and on a relatively sunny day, that seems to work out cheaper than setting the battery to charge between 02:00 - 05:00 at the moment.
When there's a blanket of cloud ALL DAY however, it could be a different story.
I was too keen to get Fluxated when in fact I may have been wiser to wait and see!
(Please don't read my posts expecting to learn anything about anything. I'm too nervous to even ask any questions at the moment.)
... for example, at the moment, on my GivEnergy cloud dashboard, nothing has changed since 8 o'clock this morning yet I've used various different appliances. It's just frozen. No idea what to do about that. Can't set anything.
netty Refresh the browser window, or just close it and re-open. If the browser window is left open for any length of time you get a blue banner asking you to confirm that you still want the refreshes.
Thanks Tim.
That doesn't always work though and I don't know why.
Anyway, after 6 hours of not refreshing itself, it suddenly has.
Right, I'm forging ahead with signing up to Octopus R&D and will endeavour to try and input some settings about charging and discharging that I saw on another thread. Things are written in a strange font on there (which is code, isn't it?) so I'm going to ignore that because I don't understand it and try to tame this Flux beast with sheer optimism and a laptop.

netty I'm letting it do its thing until I can try and get my head around what everything is supposed to mean
That is the most sensible thing you can do at the start/ wait until all the information available means something to you.
I've realised that the inverter periodically (sometimes for 6 hours at a time) goes offline.
Does this mean I have to go out in the shed in the dark and turn if off and on again?
Another lost day when I can't change the settings.
Will endeavour to sort it out tomorrow.

netty
See if the dongle is flashing next time it goes offline, as you suspect your wifi is poor it would make sense to sort that out as a priority. perhaps a mesh system or add an access point closer to the shed?
Just done the online switching from Outgoing Octopus+Flexible to Flux (no phone calls). I got asked for MCS and DNO etc. even though Octopus already had it. I also got a message about waiting 6 weeks for this to be verified etc. However, that evening I got an email from Octopus saying they were ready to switch and to click the link to read and confirm the Flux T&Cs then it would go live from midnight on the day I accepted the T&Cs. Once T&Cs ticked and accepted, my import tariff switched to Flux Import within a coupled of hours but the export stayed at Outgoing for 2 days before switching to Flux Export.
positor1 thanks. I think I've got a disc thingy from EE that I could use.
positor1 it is offline at the moment (and has been since 14:30 this afternoon) but the dongle isn't flashing ... it's solid blue.

then it thinks it is connected. do you have two wireless networks?
positor1 I don't think so.

I switched on Sunday (19th), but this is my first smart tariff (only got my DNO approval and MCS through late last week). Yet to see outgoing anywhere on my octopus page and r&d isn’t showing me anything after I linked those on Monday. Going to leave it for this week then ask how long it’ll be.
aniseedvan It took a few weeks for Outgoing to appear on my account when I did it last year.

Was anyone on Octopus Outgoing SEG and switched to flux? Did octopus still require DNO letter and MCS?

THALL They asked for it, but switchover for export was almost instant.

kai Hmm ok. Yesterday and today would have been profitable on Flux. 70p yesterday and £1 today (so far) that is for excess only no battery dumping. It might be time to switch.......
Unless you can dump a lot i would keep it, because the next day you will have faster to 100% charged and the send to the grid

lifco I put it into the car over night

Right I've started the switch online. Provided MCS and DNO letter for one of my PV's. No options to give more than one.

Switch for import is now complete. So 5 hours to switch. No mention when the export will change over though, the email from them only says Flux Import nothing about Export.
THALL I switched over a week ago and still only have import tariff showing on the dashboard.
THALL
My export went live the following morning

I had a reply from Octopus saying this can take a couple of days.
On a side note, anyone on Flux with a zappi doing scheduled charge? I expect this is purely coincidence but after changing tariff today I can no longer edit the scheduled boost charge on the myenergi app. My old 6 hour charge has vanished and if i set the new 3 hour slots they do not save. I have been out and set the zappi locally so the car will charge. But it is very weird this has happened today.
EDIT : the zappi schedule is a bigger issue, myenergi are aware. If anyone has a zappi and needs to change the schedule the fix is to do it locally on the zappi itself. Fun in the rain.

THALL Just checked my zappi and my schedule has disappeared and the app won't save a new one. I'm not even on intelligent or flux etc. so it seems like a general fault with myenergi somewhere.
THALL I switched a week ago and happy with my decision so far. BST will switch more of my generation into the peak export time which can only help too
naltsta Wow ... the way this data is presented is so simple. This is what I need. Where do I get an Octopus Watch Energy Report from? (Please don't just say Octopus!!) Do I log in to my account and it's on there somewhere?
netty I assume it's this
TX200 Ah! Right! I guess I need to stop my inverter going offline for 6 hours at a time before there's any point in monitoring everything with a phone App. But thank you for replying so promptly. There are so many corollary monitoring things that are available, it's tricky knowing where/how to get the best out of your (one's) system.

£1.99 - in app purchases..
positor1 I purchased a year for the predicted agile rates and then really liked the reports too!
It pulls data straight from octopus using their api so doesn’t matter if you inverter it’s online or not.

Just tried the octopus watch, can't get reports in the £1.99 version, need to subscribe at £1.49 per month or £9.99 per year to get reports on android.

judgepd Just had confirmation from myenergi the issue is with the recent app update 3.0.1 (I think) setting a schedule on the zappi itself is the only work around while they work on the fault.
On a flux note, when any of you have switched to Flux did you credit on your octopus account change? I checked this morning and have dozens of small deductions to my credit. from £0.07 up to £16.10 They are all listed as credits but they are charges for something. It would also be nice if the onboarding for outgoing was faster or a least some kind prompt box like the one when switching incoming. The higher import prices take instant affect so my bill for yesterday instantly changed from what should have been £0.70 to £3 but only got £0.41p seg instead of £3.80. A couple of weeks of that wont be nice :-(
netty I guess I need to stop my inverter going offline for 6 hours at a time before there's any point in monitoring everything with a phone App
My Android App has a Dongle Direct mode so you can monitor your inverter even when your internet connection is down. Just connect the phone/tablet wifi to the dongle (you should see the dongle serial number in the list of wifi points), then enter the IP Address 10.10.100.254 into the app.
Just switched to Octopus Flux (I am an existing Octopus customer). Had to do it via the website, quote my export MPAN and MCS certificate number and resend the DNO approval. Import changed to Flux in a couple of hours. Export went live at around mid day the following day - just in time for lots of solar export - hurray!!

Karen Import went live within 5 hours. Export, no change yet. I was already on Octopus SEG. Had the best solar day so far this year dumped 16kw into the grid and only going to get 4.1p per kw! Very annoying.

Karen Did you get a separate email for flux outgoing? To say it had switched?

THALL Poke them via twitter. I had the 'accept terms' email and sat on it for a week. Import was instant, but poked twitter after a few hours as no sign of action there. Was done instantly.

kai That would mean joining twitter. I have managed to avoid all social media thus far. I did phone them and it showed onboarding in progress but the lady couldn't give me any idea of how long it would take, her guess was a few days. Just frustrating it takes a while and i miss export payments for days like today. Generated over 42kw dumped 22 to the grid and will get 90 pence instead of over £6. I may twitter....
I was switched same day at 12 midnight but export was a extra 1 day
Wow Thall 42 today, i thought i did good at 18
Hope you get sorted soon mate

THALL it's the only reason I have a twitter account...
THALL No I didn't get an email for the export part. I checked first thing in the morning and was still on outgoing agile. Checked again in the afternoon and it had all been updated.
Been away and wanted to switch to take advantage of the fact I would be exporting everything. When I called up they directed me back to the website sign up but helpfully gave me my export MPAN, I re-submitted my MCS and DNO, import went live in the afternoon and then the export was live around 24 hours later, which is the same as a few other people on here.

Just chased Octopus about switching to Flux as some friends swapped last week and their import and outgoing swapped within 36 hours. Apparently my switch went wrong for my outgoing, they are fixing it now and will back date my export payments back to when I clicked switch to flux. They also found data issue issues with my previous seg data and getting a bill credit for £102 on top of any export since switching to Flux. Happy times. Got to love Octopus customer service!
Sun is out, generating a lovely 6.4kw, battery is at 92% win win win. Need to withdraw some credit I think.......
slightly off topic - I switched to flux but it was my first time setting up export. Submitted MCS and DNO approval stuff over 2 weeks ago but still not had export enabled. I thought it took about 2 weeks - anyone else experience on how long that first export setup takes on octopus?

pacemaker
took Octopus over a month I think for me.
pacemaker I had standard outgoing setup in about 10 days earlier this month. DNO is SSEN and they seemed pretty quick to create the MPAN so maybe yours is being slower.
pacemaker I selected flux export on Thursday (octopus installed my system last month), my export MPAN has appeared on my account this morning but I also had an email requesting my opening read for it - and that my first bill would be August!
I’m going to wait until probably Wednesday and then email the product team suggesting that perhaps my opening read should be zero 😂
aniseedvan I think asking for an opening reading is standard practice, because they can't be sure you haven't had an SEG with someone else previously. 1st bill August - that seems a long way off - is this cos you are paying by direct debit which will be reassessed in August? I chose variable direct debit, which means I pay for what I use each month - it also means that I get credited for my solar each month so I can check that the figures are right and that everything is working correctly.
Can anyone help me with this? I'm currently with British Gas for energy, who are hopeless, and e.On for SEG which is so small it's not worth it. I would like to switch to Octo Flux. I contacted e.On for a copy of my DNo letter, as they applied for the MPAN on my behalf, but they say they don't have that. They sent me a copy of my g98 form. I do have the MCS cert number and an MPAN ref. Is it best I just call Octopus?

pacemaker Phone them or dm them on twitter. It could be an issue getting data from your smart meter, but 9 times outa 10 they are really helpful on the phone and go out of their way to help which is what I experienced yesterday. 3 separate issues all fixed in one phone call.
THALL yeah I've sent them an email which is how they got back to me before
Karen I can’t have had a SEG elsewhere, Octopus installed the system last month!
The reason I suspect it says August is because you pay for the install via kraken. So my account (as finance hasn’t taken it off yet) has been sat with thousands on it… Good for me I managed to push it all through a rewards credit card!

pacemaker I have found recently emails are taking around a week and a half to get a reply. But just to back peddle on my Octopus praise they were meant to call me this morning between 9 and 10 to arrange withdrawing credit fro my account. Sadly they did not call. But all the Flux Outgoing is setup and I can see it is backdated too so I guess 2 out of 3 isn't bad.
THALL Just DM'd them on twitter instead 🙂
Jumbo99 Does the DNO application have a reference number on it?. If so you may be able to contact the DNO directly - or perhaps Octopus could do it for you?Best to phone Octopus just after they open in the morning - then you don't have to hold for too long
Jumbo99 Really, your installer should have provided you with a copy of the DNO - did E-on do the installation? If not - contact the installer directly. Sometimes it isn't a formal letter from the DNO, mine was just an e-mail confirmation.
pacemaker When I signed up to Octopus Outgoing I first had to get a smart meter (took 4 months) then they had to start getting the half hourly readings from the meter (about 1 week) then they had to wait for some kind of exporter account ID (took about 4 weeks). I reckon you have a couple of weeks to go.

pacemaker Which I could do that. I signed up for twitter yesterday but it is not giving me the option to verify I am human and will not let me DM. Got annoyed with it so phoned them. Will call them again Thursday if my credit does not appear.
Karen Thanks. I've just spoken to the 3rd party who did the install, and they don't have it either. It's so frustrating .
Jumbo99 They sent me a copy of my g98 form
G98 can be applied for retrospectively, but your initial SEG tariff provider won't shouldn't get an export MPAN from the DNO until they see that your G98 has been registered on their system. Maybe a kindly call to the DNO asking for a copy of the agreement letter will unstick this for you? They may have issued the MPAN on sight of the G98 without checking that the G98 had been registered, which should be the precursor to a DNO letter.
Rubikcube Thanks for this ... will take a look!
THALL You just need to add a phone number and enter the "Verified Code" they send out, and you're good to go.
Tim thanks, will give that a try
I registered online this morning, I was already on flexible & outgoing Octopus, but i sent the DNO letter again, 15:00 and we were moved onto incoming Flux, but still getting the outgoing 15p KW until the outgoing Flux is activated.
still waiting 3 weeks now to get onto flux export... Octopus said "within 2 weeks" a couple of days ago 😆

pacemaker Phone them. chased mine on the basis that other people were switched within 48 hours and the guy did mine there and then on the phone. Were you on Octopus SEG 4.1p before? Apparently switching from that export tariff caused a problem. They charged me for all my export on SEG and are working on a way to refund me, chap said 24 hours but might take longer. Will be 1 week on Monday...... Missing £105 credit
THALL this is my first time export so I think there's a few more steps/hoops to jump through. Originally they said those would take 2 weeks, but we're 3 weeks gone into the fourth. I've talked to them, but it sounds like this first time export set up just takes some time...

Has anyone elses flux prices changed today? I signed up to flux just over a week ago and I thought prices would be fixed for 12 months from the point of sign up. But it looks like all my export has dropped a few pence, standing charge went up. Am I imagining things?
On the R&D graphs page yesterday it had the import and export prices plotted against time.
Today they are blank.
I guess it is the new prices from 1st April not got into system yet

SteveCook So is Flux variable? Not fixed for 12 months?
THALL Octopus sent me an email on Thursday with the changes to the import tariff. Still waiting for them to sort out my export but I would expect that to change as well. It was a variable tariff when I signed up to it.
THALL mine got cheaper!
Yes, Flux is variable. I got an e-mail with the changes on 30th March. Export rates have dropped slightly, but so have import rates. Bloody standard charge on the other hand has just rocketted to 47.9p a day - up 5P!!

Karen And that includes octopus standing charge discount.... its my mistake, I thought prices would be fixed for 12 months like Go tariffs of old. Not enough to put me off but something I will check in the future. Export values might plumet June/July though.....
Because your electricity smart tariff follows Flexible Octopus, which is subject to the Energy Price Cap, your prices are changing
This is mentioned in the email from Octopus about Flux price changes
Hi all, I’ve just switched to Flux from Go, which became effective from 1 April. The export side is still showing as the 4.1 SEG. I hear it can take a few days for that to appear as Flux export. For those that have already switched, did they back date your export payments to start on the same date you joined Flux?
Going to be sunny this week, don’t want to be stuck on SEG!
Thanks

Jim For me they did, because I phoned and asked why my switch was taking longer than others and the guy back dated to the day I joined flux. For most it seems to be 24 - 48 hours
I was switched on to export this morning after going onto import on Friday, so pretty quick with just the weekend in between, I was already on outgoing so all the DNO stuff had already been processed, I am now wondering how i see the breakdown of my export at different rates?

My import switch was completed the day I rang them up to switch, the export took a couple of days but it says it started the same day as the import and I've received a final bill for export to the day before my switch.
I see that its caught up now and both import and export changed to Flux on Friday about 6 hours after i applied, so cant fault that.
Thanks all, I messaged them on Twitter over the weekend and the export was sorted first thing on Monday, I’d asked them if they would back date it to 1 April when the supply side went live and they said they don’t normally, but would in this instance, good news as Sunday was sunny and we’d export about 20kW.
Jim Yes, the export goes active the same time as import (as long as you are already on an Octopus export SEG tarif). It just seems to take a few days for your account to show the export tarif even though import shows up pretty quickly.
spawneydave Have you added Octopus to the smart tariff card on the main portal.?It's underneath the weather card on the right hand side. You need you MPAN, Octopus account number and Octopus API. If you do this it gives you two graphs each day showing import and export at each rate, and a list of your half hourly readings.
thanks, found that but cant see where i input my details ?
I opened up the card (click the 4 arrow thing in the top right hand corner). It should offer you options of different energy companies. If you click on Octopus it should give you fields to input your data.
Mine took a couple of days for the Flux export to show up. It went active yesterday.
However, looking at my octopus usage, it shows how much power I used yesterday, but says that I didn't export anything, which is incorrect, I exported just over 5kwh. Is there a delay in recording export from when they say it went active, or have they messed something up?
Has anyone done any spreadsheeting on how much EV charging on GO it takes to make Flux completely not worth it?
Ulven I sometimes find that if I check the tariff card in the morning the import figures are there, but the export says "no data". When I go back to look in the afternoon it has updated. You also get delays on the day following your Octopus monthly bill
Just go with the flow and provide the MCS and DNO info again. I've had to do this 3 times so far, every time I change my tariff, but the change happens very quickly afterwards, normally at midnight in my case.
I switched from Octopus Go to Flux yesterday. Had to submit my MCS and DNO again.
Import switched over within a few hours, Export about 24 hrs later.
I requested a switch to Flux on 31st March (from standard tariff). I was switched to Flux import tariff on 1st April, 2 days later Octopus requested my export MPAN from my DNO (SSE) since I had never had an export tariff previously. I chased Octopus on 21st April since they had said I could expect to wait two weeks. The following day 22nd April I went live with the Flux Export tariff.
I am just switching from Agile to Flux. The import switched this morning immediately after I accepted the T's & C's export hasn't yet switched.
I was asked for the MCS certificate number and DNO letter, which is normal for all export switches so I have saved mine on my PC so it's easy to add.
Martyn Changeover to export has been finalised this morning.
