What do I do if my inverter randomly goes off-line for 6 hours?
It's done this for the last two days but at different times and for no apparent reason.
Do the settings still work?
Is the problem with the dongle?

Can anyone recommend a WiFi booster that they've used that actually works? I'll probably read a load of fake reviews and buy something rubbish.

netty may be worth asking the installer for a 4G dongle version of the dongle?

Although I guess that will mean home mode won't work on the app? Not sure if that is something you're fussed about.

My inverter connects via a wifi booster in the garage - it is a TP Link RE450, works perfectly.

I'm having terrible time with the 4G dongles on both Gen2 inverters since retrofitting from Gen1's.
They've spent more time offline than on.

I'm wondering why the inverter couldn't connect to my house WiFi in the first place. The electrician stayed late trying to connect it and in the end we had to revert to paying an extra £80 for the dongle. And now that goes offline for 6 hours each day.

netty it could be something in the house that is interfering with the signal. Is something being used during the 6 hours it’s offline? Ie. Corresponding with you being at home or not at home for example.

As for signal boosters or extenders. There is no real reason why one it or there doesn’t work ok. For best results I would turn off any 5ghz bands as the dongle (at least on gen1 ) inverters only talk on the 2ghz band (or whatever it is around that frequency- can’t remember!).

Fwiw my dongle couldn't connect properly when I had the 5Ghz band turned on for my WiFi.

In the end I had to get a 2nd Router, Router 1 does 2.4Ghz only, and Router 2 does 5Ghz only (acts as a slave, turned off DHCP and gave it a static IP address outside the normal DHCP range).

They have different SSID's so I can force a device onto one or the other.

Because the dongle is a pain to setup, I made the 2.4Ghz SSID the old one as it was configured, and then put all my more modern devices onto Router 2 via 5Ghz.

If you can split the bands, or disable the 5Ghz, it may help you see if that brings some stability. Though anything using 2.4Ghz on WiFi will be a little slow.
