I’m a newbie and I would like to start selling energy to the grid. Looking at our providers application, it says I need a certificate from an accredit certification body, such as the Mircrogeneration Certification Scheme ( MCS). Can anyone here point me in the right direction to apply for this?

Your install has to be MCS credited and request the certificate from the dno. You should have it already.

Your installer should have given you your MCS certificate, if not chase them.

Is that is all that is needed @THALL ? I'm stuck between the installer, DNO and Octopus. DNO says "we need commissioning docs" while installer doesn't know what they need. Is it just the MCS cert?

I would ask you installer if they are MCS certified. It will probably say on their website if they are.
I would check the kit they have installed is MCS certified,
Look on this list on the website below for installer and kit.
If the answer to both of those is yes, then your installer should be able to give you the necessary piece of paper.

Sounds to me like your installer might not be certified

NotoriousPyro Is that is all that is needed

You need the MCS certificate and the DNO agreement letter/email, both of which your installer should provide in the installer information pack with a schematic of what has been installed and where, as well as the electrical inspection certificate.

You will also likely need a copy of your invoice with your name & date of install on it (at least our SEG British Gas required this)

Also go into your meter cupboard and take pictures of your meter readings.

Take the image so that it shows both the Meter Point Reference Number (MPN) with your Current import reading and you will need to access your current Export Reading

How you obtain this will vary from meter to meter but at least for ours, a Landis Gyr + E470 the secret code was Press Button A Twice, then press and hold Button A for 3-4 seconds, then press Button A 9 more times......

Hope that helps

Small pv systems don't need dno

Dno only comes in to play when you go like 6 +

#9 THALL

lifco you need a G98 for up to 3.68kw and a G99 for anything bigger.

Your right sorry i'm on g99 as i have 6.5,

i thought it was around 5 for the g98 but your correct

lifco , you do need documentation from the DNO for small systems up to 3.68 kW (currently classed as G98), it is just that the system can be installed Before notifiying the DNO. You will still need a copy of the DNO confirmation reply in order to apply for SEG payments.

Tim Octopus didn't ask for the electrical inspection certificate, just MPAN (if you have it already, MCS and DNO email)

Karen Octopus didn't ask for the electrical inspection certificate

Not for SEG, no, but when you come to sell the house, you need to be able to demonstrate that the electrical work was done by competent people. I was just listing what I'd expect to see in the handover pack.

lifco My install is 5.5 kW and it needed DNO approval.
