I'm setting up my Octopus R&D labs integration, and Octopus is asking for Login, password and API key.

Two questions:

  1. Are the login and password my normal GivEnergy portal credentials?
  2. Where do I get the API key? I can't see it on my GivEnergy portal or the inverter details.

James L did you get this sorted? My givenergy login and password don't seem to work.

When I go into Account Security I don't have a button for 'Generate new key'. My API Keys is an empty table. Any thoughts?

Hi Andy,
I think what you're after is 'Manage API Tokens' (Under Account Settings > Manage Account Security).
Here you can generate an API key to enter into Octopus R&D labs.
Having said that, my Octopus R&D control stopped working about a week ago. I tried generating new keys and setting up the device in Octopus R&D from scratch but all I get is the error 'Can't receive data from device'. I keep trying every few days assuming something in GE/Octopus has broken and will be fixed. I'll be interested to hear how you get on.
Cheers
Paul.

Are API Tokens the same as API Keys?

I can generate an API token, but that doesn't work in Octopus R&D labs - I think it needs the API Key, which I can't see how to generate. Will email Givenergy.

Andy C your Generating the correct key, the Octopus R&D labs is broken right now so it's them you need to email.

If I understand correctly; API Keys just identify the user. API Tokens identify the user but also carry more information such as what functions the user is allowed to access...as you can see on the page where you generate the token

Thanks Hoggy - I was wondering if it was me or them :-)

Hello all - newbie here!

I've been on Octopus Go Faster since I had my 9.5kWh installed in September and I'm changing to Intelligent Octopus at the end of this month.
I know how to manually change the battery charge time to fit off-peak IO if required, but my question is - does the smart tariff automatically change on the battery dashboard, do I need the Octopus API, or is there some way to do it myself?
Thanks in advance
