Do I need to change my off peak battery charge times to BST…..EDF suggests smart meter stays on GMT….( my meter is first generation..!)

ONEIL If the charge times stay on GMT, just set your charge times to be GMT:
It's simple but it's complicated. This screen shot is from EDF regarding our EV tariff. It stays on GMT all year round, but that means that if the Givenergy inverters and our Zappi EV charger are on BST, we need to change the timed charge slot to be an hour ahead (1-6am BST rather than 0-5am GMT). The actual timeslot doesn't change (look at the sun) but what is displayed on the device does.
Some suppliers keep the timeslot the same (eg 00:30-04:30 whether that's GMT or BST). Just think back to the good old days when time of use tariff (eg Economy 7) was controlled by a mechanical timeswitch. They couldn't go out to every household to change the timeswitches twice each year, so they just kept the time of use slot the same all year round.
As I said, it's simple but complicated. You really do need to get your head around exactly what the small print in your tariff says about daylight saving time. Some change, others don't; but whether they change or not, you just need to be sure that your timed schedules are right for your tariff. There's no single right or wrong answer.
