Battery % Vs "More Information" %

Hi All

Hopefully a quick one and couldn't find a clear answer searching. Why is the "More information" screen battery % different? Mine is +5% different as we speak. Which is right, and why the discrepancy?

More info is the true battery status I believe.

Part of the battery is ignored for safety reasons.

Can't fully discharge/ fully charge. Max voltages etc for safety.

Yes - there is a buffer amount of battery capacity retained at the bottom end (i.e. not accessible by users) to enable the inverter to power up from "cold" if needed. Plus, these types of batteries don't last as long if they are completely flattened, or charged to actual 100% of total nominal capacity,so I suspect that they dpn't charge to their full nominal capcity either.
just to confuse matters further, some battereies (like mine, 5.2kWh) only allow 80% DoD (depth of discharge) whilst others (9.2kWh units I think) allow 100%. Again, even with the latter, there will be a "hidden" capacity.

Yeah I have the 9.5kWh 100% DoD.

I still don't really get why they are different though, because sometimes they are the same. Like my difference earlier was +5%, now its +2%, and I've seen it be the same.

I see mine wandering around fairly randomly, they do converge at 100% SoC, but as the batteries discharge, they diverge. It doesn't seem to affect the total throughput, so I am not going to worry about it, lol.

yeah I was thinking same that its not actually affecting anything, it is just odd UX to have two values - GE should pick one! 😃

I can't actually see the connection between the two battery voltages reported in the "driilled down" app view, and the "average" one shown on the top level view - sometimes it's lower, sometimes higher, but never an average!

Whatever, I am still saving money.

wilfleek , one voltage will be measured at the inverter, and the other at the batteries after the connection cable and power electronics of the battery management system.

They alternate between higher and lower depending on whether the battery is charging or discharging as there is a volt drop across the battery cable and electronics.
