Spam emails related to solar and battery storage systems

Within a couple of days of my GE installation, I have notices a series of spam emails, all purporting to be about solar and battery storage systems.

Is it a co-incidence, or related to my installer inputting my email address during the GE setup?
I do not remember signing up to any other related forums at this time.

Not that I would be opening these emails, but here are some examples.

marketing-at-yifengfactory.com - cannot even spell 'Solar', so get 'Sloar Power' instead.

Simon_C Just mark them as spam and block them from your email. Someone's been buying email lists.

Simon_C Best case is your details have been forwarded or sold to other GE affiliates/partners or whover they outline in their t&cs. Worst case, well..

The subdomains you have typed are i'm guessing what you see in your email in the from field. If you take the marketing one then that domain as written does not exist. It's available for sale.

But, yifengfactory.com does exist

And that domain has mx records published. These are the email servers used by this domain and are likley where your email from this domain came from, assuming they arentt using a 3rd party emailer.

And you will probably find similar situation for the other domains you have posted.

Maxwell , sorry I should have stated that I replaced the @ with -at- so they did not become active links that someone could click on.

Have you been a customer of Midsummer Wholesale by any chance?

I bought my extended inverter warranty from them in September. Around late November, I started receiving a few solar related spam emails a day. As I had used a dedicated email address to register my Midsummer Wholesale account, I could tell that was somehow the source.

Simon_C No worries, i covered both scenarios as the domains i mentioned were those applicable to your case where you had used at instead of @ and i used the marketing one as an example in case they had spoofed.

vera_GE , yes actually now you mention it, I did order some equipment from them.

Simon_C I suggest contacting them to alert them. My suspicion is that they have had a customer database leak or security breach. Obviously, the question is then what else might have been accessed apart from email addresses?
