Hi everyone, why does my brand new batter jump to 100 randomly? Is it faulty?

Lots of them do that. If the battery isnt charged to 100% for a little while it loses track of how full it is then when you do fully charge the battery it suddenly realises that it is full and reset the count to 100%. My brother had his jump from 25% to 100% in 5mins once where he hadnt fully charged it for weeks over winter! There are lots of threads on here covering the issue and possible fixes in firmware being tested.

Zaz oh so it is actually fully charged to 100 - so it does have that full capacity?
