The charger is pretty much a "shut up and take my money" product for me. If they don't hurry, I'll just buy a zappi.
Really hope we can all hear something from GE soon.
IanMac Am in the same position as you (although i have a battery which you may not). I have an EV arriving next week and would prefer to buy the GE but may have to go with a Zappi. Do you have battery storage as i've heard the Zappi doesn't integrate well with PV and batteries as it gets confused about where to send the energy when the panels are making solar energy. Do you have any more info on this or a plan if you have battery storage.
Richieb01 it integrates well if you have an AC inverter as the myenergi app can recognise the PV/battery flows separately. Hybrid you have to fudge things with export limits/response delays etc.
Smk82 we have hybrid inverter and Zappi. We set the Zappi to a timed charge with the same window as the hybrid so they both charge at the same time. If the EV is plugged in overnight it charges. If it isn’t plugged in it doesn’t. It’s only during the winter that the EV is left plugged in overnight. The rest of the year it’s plugged in during the daytime, with the Zappi set to ECO+ mode with 100% Minimum Green Level and 20 second delay. With this configuration, the Zappi will divert export to charge the car when export exceeds 1.4kW (the minimum an EV charger will operate at). Last year all of our EV charge came from PV from the end of March to the end of October. The Zappi configuration hasn’t changed since these settings were made when it was installed. It’s fit and forget, but remember to plug/unplug the EV to charge during the day or overnight.

Tim im not saying that hybrid inverters don’t work with the Zappi, just that the AC can use the avoid drain/charge settings to do it in a more integrated manner

anthonypar It's different now, those shaped ones are from Weeyu. of which about a dozen or so went out to Beta testers. The decision was made to go their own way in the end and make their own (so I guess Beta tests didn't go too well)

They do at least exist in the UK. There's a few of this new shape in their carpark...
I think the plan was for them to be UK made in the new built factory - however as that's still a muddy puddle that leaves 2 options:
They are going to be solely made in the UK, in which case the ETA for these is some way away
They are going to use their China factory and import them for a while until UK factory is up and running (which means ETA could be somewhat closer)

hoggy , the GE data sheet reads as though it has a 5m long tethered cable with no other options.
I chose an un-tethered Zappi, so there is no cable laying around at the front of my house when not in use.
Just a personal choice, that may or may not suit others.

Thats why I chose the Andersen. Tethered, but no unsightly cable draped all over the shop.
Hopefully as that case seems much larger than the general size of EV inerter across the market the cable will neatly wrap around the casing and be hidden from sight ! ... until them I'm using my Ohme Go Commando lead rather than install a Zappi ;-)

I have a Giv 8.2 battery. I don't forsee the Zappi being an issue. I have an Eddi and that works fine. Theres some settings such as "Export Margin" specifically for Hybrid systems. Unless anyone can point me in the direction of people that have had issues?

I went down the zappi route as I needed an EV charger and that was a solid proven product made and supported from UK.
The reason any diversion kit has issues with hybrid is because you can’t monitor the DC output of the battery with a CT.

You would think there would be some kind of link lead or data output that could transmit the data required.
You would hope for a standard interface API across hybrid inverters where any device just needs the IP of the inverter or a wired link and can poll or set up a notification of charge changes. Say every 30 seconds.
Not perfect, but not much so much worse than a CT to not be useful.
I have used some DC monitoring devices in the past designed for 48V DC and up to 100A. Used to use them to monitor power for telecommunications kit running on 48v DC.
Just seeing what the tolerance is, because if that can report and I can output voltages similar to a modelled CT range we’d have a simple solution.
