“Show calculated load”

Hi All, I am sure I am being stupid but I am unclear what this option does in the app. Any hints?!

When it is set to false, the house load value will be the actual AC consumption of the contents of your house.

When set to true it will be modified to make all the other numbers 'add up', this means it will include power used by the inverter during operation, also with battery and solar being DC but load and grid being AC there are conversion losses, these losses also get put into the load figure.

Whether you want it false or true depends on whether you want to see true actual AC use in the house, or total effective power use from all sources in AC including losses.

Phil_H thank you, that’s much clearer! Their documentation and tooltips in the all are not great… One other thing I’m noticing is that - even at night - I often see a few watts showing on the solar. Is that usual? I have an AC coupled system.

I don't have experience of an AC coupled system but as I understand it the solar value is taken from a clamp which measures from outside the cable, this is an imperfect measurement so I would not be surprised to see it reporting a few watts at night, probably just down to interference.

Boffinboy from memory of an answer in another post, the inverter is attributing its own power consumption to solar.

Boffinboy Phil_H is correct. I have an AC system and it does report a few Watts every now and then, when it is dark. At this point, the solar inverter (so not the GE kit) is off, so it won't be providing any power - but the CT clamp may still pick up some stray magnetic field from other conductors, and report this as 2W or 3W. So effectively, this is just background 'noise' and is quite normal.

That is not impossible but not with the kit installed on our roofs.

If we were closer to the moon it probably would work.

Here's another thing you probably didn't know:

Our panels create electricity from light but they can also emit light (just in the infrared range)

Should keep the pigeons warm then.
