When does the novelty wear off…

Have to say it was a success yesterday. I set the battery charge limit to about 1kw so that the battery would charge slowly and enable more solar to go into wife’s EV. After car full and battery full I then had to run dishwasher followed by Immersion heater to keep the generation as high as poss. I have an export limit of 3.68kw so if I don’t use it I lose it as Inverter clips. It needs a lot of manual monitoring and tweaking to yield the best outcome but it’s a novelty so enjoying it but will need to look to automate in the future so I can get my life back 😀

Jon-boy Nah. You’ll just stop looking every day. As long as the house loads are fed from solar and you can do all the other household things, including EV charging, you’ll become blasé about the export. You’ll get paid for it at whatever rate your tariff says, but you will stop looking. You’ll have to because you’ll spend all your time on this forum responding to rhetorical questions about your solar setup.

yeah I am paying close attention at the moment because my export tariff STILL isn't enabled on Flux, so I use as much as I possibly can before free export... once I get paid for it I can stop paying attention!

For me the novelty has never warn off.
I got my first solar install done 11 years ago (professional install on garage roof, 1.75 kW East & 1.75 kW West)
Then a few years later a DIY install on my shed roof (0.7 kW East)
Then last year I got a 2nd professionally installed system (house roof, split 2.43 kW South + East & 1.6 kW West) with battery storage which ended up being installed 6 months later.
I monitor it all as closely today as I did 11 years ago.
I find the whole home generation & usage VERY interesting and enjoyable
