Using the new beta controls / portal

Folks
I'm trying to get my head around using the new portal to change settings on my batteries & inverters.
In 'Remote control' there are lots of settings which can be changed (although none are pre-populated at the moment). I can't see any help info on making setting changes.
Also, I see that I can change modes, if I go into the 'Settings' tab from / inverter list / inverter information / ...and that the choices seem to broadly line up with the the old Mode 1, Mode 2, Mode 3 etc functionality. I use these old modes quite a lot (1 & 3 particularly) and need the two time periods in mode 3, to prevent my batteries discharging, when our EV is charging during the cheap overnight tariff window. I need both periods because I believe that the system doesn't currently straddle midnight correctly, and my tariff window is 00:30 - 05:30.
On the same tack... what will happen to the current 2 - period times I have set in Mode 3 on the old portal, if I change the 1 - period time setting on the new portal?

One other thing on changing modes - as I have 2 batteries, each with its own controller, I find it very useful at the moment, to be able to change modes on both controllers at once - from one of the pages on the old portal; I just have both controllers displayed, select the mode I want, and use 'Select' (or 'Save changes' - whatever it is) - then confirm the status change at the top of the page, as each controller updates. Can't see anywhere on the new portal where I can do that, yet.

It would be most useful to have a help file on the new portal - detailing how to go about using all of the great new features.
If there's such a thing already in place, please be good enough to point me in the right direction.

Thanks

You should not need the remote control page, and we will be removing that from customer views soon. All functions should be avaialble from the main cards. Thats a legecy from before all the features were made avaialble.

The inverter card manages charging. You access via the setting tab. ECO = Mode 1, Timed discharge = Mode 2 & 3

If the battery is a charge mode it should not discharge. even if its full. So if you set to charge 00:30 - 05:30 to whatever SOC you like, that should prevent any dischange during that period. You can then either set the system to ECO or timed discharge.
I will add the second discharge slot to the dev backlog. I think we skipped over that one so an obvious gap.
Changing the discharge slot in beta should chage slot 1. You can check by just looking back at the old portal.
( note changing in old does not pull to new, but new does display on old )

The system should straddle midnight without issue. My charge is 2330 - 0430. That works fine.
Discharge can be 05:30 - 00:30 in the same way

I think there are some features we need for multiple systems. Lots of comments on those.

Thanks Simon

I'll have a butcher's at that little lot tomorrow, and look forward to the 2 time slots facility in the future.

Have a look at todays update to the beta site.....

As you have 2 inverters there is a new feature in the ribbon bar that may be of interest to you. A caroselle of the batteries so you can see SOC and power for each easily

simon_swinburne Loving that update, Simon - please disregard my comment on the other thread!

UPDATE: Although on closer inspection there appears to be a problem with the carousel data. My two batteries are both showing at 49% (the average also reported in the mobile app) whereas the inverter cards reports one battery at 35% and the other at 63% - shouldn't the carousel also report the 35% and 63% for the separate batteries, rather than the plant average?

Just playing catch-up, here...
I've just answered one of your other posts about this feature, and made the same point as you; mine are both displaying 47%, when in reality, they're 30 % & 64%.
Have fed this back via the portal (before I read this!) .
Getting there, though... 😃
Update:
I also notice that as the batteries are charging, the % indicated on the beta portal is increasing, but still the same for both inverters, and bearing no resemblance to reality.

We will look into this.

It s tricky at present with multiple batteries on one inverter, and multiple batteries via multipke inverters

At least you can see whats coming ;-)

simon_swinburne take a look now

Great! All looking good, and aligned nicely to the real figures.

Thank you.

simon_swinburne Re: straddling over midnight - I am currently using the OctoR&DLabs site to control my charging / discharging & still can't straddle midnight - in fact if there is a charge period at 2330 then it only allows me upto 2300. What are your thoughts on the OctoR&DLabs settings vs your updates? I do find their 'scheduler' very handy to set my daily charge/discharge up. Ideally this would be available with the Giv site or maybe app? Thanks.

to be fair, I think I experienced that issue last night too so I was starting to investigate today

To answer your question, we openly support integrations. We have made APIs avaialble and there is no issue with anyone using them to do anything.

Personally I think simple is better, fewer points of failure. ( DST gave issues in the past where there were mismatches etc etc, and if it doesnt work finding why can be tricky )

Also not every customer is with Octopus but would like smarter controls, so we need to accommodate their needs too.
The current scheduling is rather limited so it wouldn't be unreasonable to think improvements may be on the backlog, but being honest not at the top as we have other features in development
