Battery appears to be completely off line. Initially switch next to it tripped and we put it back in all is fine again. It tripped again the next day and again today with the same problem and now the trip switch hasn’t tripped but the battery is just completely off-line

Boris You don't say which inverter/battery combination you have but I suspect it's a gen 1 hybrid with the DC MCB in series between the inverter and battery. This is a known weakness and (probably) the reason why gen 2 inverters have crimped fittings on the end and no separate MCB. Either the termination at the MCB is faulty or the MCB itself is faulty. Either way you need to get your installer back to rectify the problem. Swapping out the MCB for a replacement is the usual resolution (as well as checking there's no insulation caught under the terminal screws causing a high temperature. Once the problem has been resolved, get the installer to switch the battery back on. The MCB will continue to trip unless the problem is rectified.
