Is there a straight forward way to stop my battery exporting to the grid?
I see on settings there is an export measure but I am loath to alter that without he knowledge of what I’m doing.

Cerlus Can you show us a power graph from the dashboard showing the export? Are we talking lots per day, or a few watts?
One thing to note is that the inverter can take some time to react to change - up to 30 seconds. So if you use your battery is discharging to your home to power it, and there is a sudden reduction in power (think kettle stops boiling) then there will be a short time where the excess energy needs to go somewhere, usually the grid, until the inverter reduces the demand.

AFAIAA the export limit is set by your installer (or Givenergy if the installer "forgot") to the limit set in the DNO agreement. End users aren't able to alter that setting. Which export measure are you referring to?
Tim it's not likely to be the Export Limitation for the reasons you stated.
By deduction it is one of the settings within the Cloud Portal (most likely the Timed Export within the Inverter Card but could be one within the Remote Control) or the Phone App.
Cerlus as Tim said without further information about exactly what you are talking about its pretty hard to assist you.
So sometimes when I look at the Giv app, I can it showing power going from the battery to the grid.

Cerlus In ECO mode, the inverter dynamically responds to house load by supplying from PV/battery depending on what's available. When house load changes, it takes the inverter a finite time to respond, both ramping up and down. It could be that if the kettle was switched on when there was insufficient PV, the inverter would ramp up output to feed that instantaneous load from what PV there is, and by discharging the battery. When the kettle boils and switches off, the inverter starts to ramp down but for a few seconds the battery is still supplying the house and the only place it can go is to the grid.
For this reason, the only way to have zero grid import and export is to disconnect yourself from the grid. Our portal shows grid import/export of 0.1-0.3kWh/day but the smart meter has it more like 0.8kWh import and whatever surplus PV is exported at 3.68kW (up to 20kWh on a very sunny day.
The app is good but it gets its updates (power flows and inverter power etc) from the inverter every ten seconds in "Home" mode. Those updates could have been logged by the inverter at any time within that 10 seconds, so the data you are seeing is likely not to be correct. Much better to wait for a few update cycles to see what the trend is before getting anxious about the inverter behaviour.
