What Does Normal Look Like

As a newbie to this I am trying to work out what normal performance for my system should look like when i'm looking at the data in the portal, the app in local mode or when i get it set up pulling the data back from the inverter.
Now i appreciate that there are a number of variables at play. There are the ones that are outside of control like the direction of panels are facing, variations in solar intensity, shading//partial shading effects, ambient temperature and then the ones of more concern like is there a problem with one of the panels, is there a hardware or software problem with the battery or inverter. Are there any examples for GE kit on how changes in different variables impact results and how we can detect the real problems and need either the supplier or GE input to fix ?

Maxwell Everybody’s setup and usage is different.

You’d need to tell us what inverter, battery and pv you have and what part of the country you’re in, as well as the direction of your roof for us to guess at what to expect.

For example I have a gen 1 hybrid inverter with 4kw of pv and a 9.5kwh battery. My roof is 21degrees off south so SSW. Today was my best day in the 2 months I’ve had it and I produced 25kwh based in South Birmingham.

Hook Thanks. It was more of a general discussion on this rather than a spcific issue on my system. Just the general principle for anyone coming in new to this. Particularly where there are so many variables. And it is good that there is community of users who are willing to support folks queries. But perhaps there is a bit of naivety on my part in thinking there must be some sort of examples of expected performance or known issues in a sample set up for specific bits of kit. And i think this was my best solar day this year.

Normally if you give specifics of the system you have and any issues, you’ll find similar users who can advise.

The 2 generations of inverters seem to be performing differently at the moment, and single batteries generally seem more consistent than multiple batteries.

It is also useful to understand what your primary objective is, as different people go down the solar/battery route for different reasons. In other words, give some context to work with, to help you.

I bought my system in 2021 to store solar and use the agile tariff where it was 5p off peak and 18-24p peak so I would have set it to store and use it in the evening.
By the time it was installed we were just seeing the start of the energy crisis (not related to the war). I moved on to go faster to import cheap and hopefully have a lower winter bill by using the battery in dynamic mode.
March 2022 I jumped onto Agile with the cap of 34p but export was bouncing at 60p so I spent most of the summer making money from the battery export.
I should have jumped in December but Economy 7 was not too much better so stayed on agile while using the battery to make £140 in the seasonal saving sessions.
In the first week of March I jumped to flux and charge overnight and use dynamic, I don't for export.

So from one single person, I have at least 4 different use scenarios. The key is the fact the battery can do what you want, some people never adjust things and others can create independent routines with other software integration.
