I’m getting a replacement smart meter installed soon…the old first generation one didn’t provide an export figure so I was unable to get the benefit of an SEG arrangement…obviously the power supply will be disconnect during the switch… is there anything I should be concerned about or do to ensure my system returns to normal function ( connectivity etc)
Thanks in advance…

ONEIL Hey bud, recently had the exact same thing. Told the installer we had solar panels and a battery to make them aware and they had no issues with it. Had no issues with everything turning back on etc and didn't have to switch anything off.
Hope this helps

ONEIL Most of the time it won't be a problem but occassionally you may need to shut everything down a restart it after they have gone as it may not recover when the juice is back on. Essentially, the meter change should just look like a power cut and therefore should be tollerated by your installation. When I had my smart meter upgraded the inverter failed to reconnect to the battery so a graceful shut down and restart was needed and everything was OK. Do tell the installer what you have. As a precaution they should isolate your system before starting work just in case it doesn't auto isolate itself when the grid goes down and give him a nice jolt when he or she is least expecting it.

Also, if the CT clamp is on the tails coming out of the meter (rather than being the other end near the consumer unit)..
Check what cable it’s on before the smart meter appointment. Check which direction the arrow is pointing in.
So if the smart meter person puts it back on the wrong wire or the wrong direction, you’ll know what’s wrong when all the data looks wrong!
