I am sure this has been asked before, but I can not find a post about it.
Is there a way to set a max charge on the batteries? Example, can I limit charge to 85% to help prevent battery damage during the Summer months. Does this even matter as the givenergy batteries are "over spec'd?"
Could this feature be added?

Hi Thall - I agree. I poked my head above the parapet in the "New GivEnergy Inverter & BMS Firmware Beta Testing Chat" thread here: BobB. It didn't get any traction. I did raise a feature request, but most folk seem to be happy letting their house batteries just get on with it.
While we still have the SOC bug we have to fully exercise the battery occasionally to retain access to the top and bottom portions. Once the SOC bug is fixed there would be a reason to be kinder to the battery.
However, with tariffs like Octopus Flex, folk may still want to max out their batteries and sell back.

An upper charge limit? I can see that in the summer when there's plenty of solar, then having the batteries only ever partially charge might not impact on being able to supply house load from them. I sort of do this by limiting the charge rate each sunny morning to about 700W. It takes longer to charge the batteries and export (or EV charging) starts sooner, so clipping is reduced during the day. The batteries still gets to 100% by mid morning, so not really what you're asking for but if you have home automation, setting the battery charge rate low in the morning and down to zero when you reach, say 80% SoC would work for you.
BobB I can confirm the beta firmware fixes the soc bug, I do not fully cycle my batteries to assist with that issue.
But, due to so much PV I appear to only using the top 20 - 25% of my battery storage this time of year. I do try to dump more into my EV when I remember. But that means my batteries are fully charged by 9:15am ish and sit at 100% until 7pm ish. I keep my EV at 80% as per recommendation, my mobile with battery safety turned on charges to 85%.
Tim I do not use home automation, but a slower charge speed would kind of work. But then on bad weather days it might not hit the % level I want. I will check April's data for bad weather days and work out a slower charge rate for now.
Tim Just noticed the slider for this moves in 6% chunks? Even using the remote control option it is 6% chunks. I can't remember if it jumped like this before or if this is new. Regardless I have dropped charge speed to 70% or 2124w. Based on Aprils data that would get me to full charge everyday except 1. But the ability to set a max capacity level would be nice.
