Hi,
Just noticed that my 8.2kWh battery has a firmware update notice. I was on 3007.

Thanks.
It just finished the update to 3012. Now the battery started a calibration cycle.

rio911 change log was published yesterday, when the FW was released by me.
I also issued a formal announcement document too.
TheDragon (GivEnergy) Can you guide me to where I can find these documents?
Oh nice I can see the option as well, I guess I should do this later tonight a bit before the Flux charge window, if the battery starts near to 0, then the charging would mostly take place in the Flux cheaper window.
Does that sound right?

rio911 https://kb.givenergy.cloud/article.php?id=22
lots of tech detail, basically SOC has a new algorithm. To stop the drift, causing drops and jumps. Aswell as 3 methods of self calibration
So, calibration started at 3:20pm and finished just after 8pm.
Should I be worried that it was discharging at 3.8kW, while it should only be capable of 3.6?!?!

rio911 Were you getting that number from the Portal? I ask because mine said 4Kw discharge and I thought the same, but checking with the CT clamp on my Zappi, it was 3.6 actual, so therefore I just put it down to a number glitch in the portal.

TheDragon (GivEnergy) Currently my battery software version is showing as 3009 in the portal. But, there is no mention of 3009 in your linked kb article. Why is that ? And it would be useful to put a link to the firmware kb into the message saying that the firmware is available.
Maxwell I only looked at the portal. But that doesn't make sense, the battery is supposed to only do 3.6kW according to its spec sheet.

Well I’m currently pumping more than that right now from my battery.
ProximusAl that will be because the 3600 limit is an AC limit (usable house/Export power) whereas the number in the app is battery DC power so before conversion losses.

Phil_H Interestingly in ProximusAl screen shot if you subtract the solar (.330)+ grid (.556) from what the house (4.59) needs you get the battery needs to supply 3.704. And the battery is shown producing 3.71. So, 99.8% efficient ?
Maxwell no, they probably have 'show calculated load' turned on so the house load is calculated to make the numbers' add up'. Or they are transient numbers due to being a snapshot.

Phil_H I do have calculated load on. Might turn it off.

Phil_H Ta, the calculated load was a feature in the app i hadn't noticed.
Phil_H can you please explain what does the "calculated load" option do?

rio911
It includes the amount of power the inverter is consuming. this makes more sense if you wanted to calculate when your batteries will empty but if you want a more accurate display of the house load you can turn that off.
positor1 Are you talking about the official app ? Where is that setting, I am using the android version and can't find it .

justpassing
Odd. I cant find it on the android app either this morning but i know it is/was there and i left it selected.
justpassing click the cog icon in the top right of the power flow image (not at the top of the screen) and it's the first option on there.

Phil_H
Blind. totaly blind. my eyes were drawn to the section below for some reason and ignored the top line.
Thank you
Phil_H Two Cogs on one screen, who would have thought it !.
Thanks didn't see that at all :-)
@TheDragon (GivEnergy) Will everyone's firmware be updated?
On the basis of if it ain't broke, don't fix it, I would prefer to stay on current firmware (DO.449-AO.449 and 3005).

Martyn Its your choice. It was going to be a push.
Now its a pull only.
TheDragon (GivEnergy) Thanks for that, will definitely leave it for a while.

There are clealry many threads here on the topic of the new BMS2012 firmware update. And some want to delay the update as their system seems stable, others are having issues with the update and whether the update is working properly. But, the one thing that I'd say is missing from https://kb.givenergy.cloud/article.php?id=22 are the statements about what issues this update addresses in a simple way. Otherwise how do customers know whether they should update and what will it improve for them ? I'm sure the content of the change history will excite those who spend their life in the detail of battery charging. But, for the rest of us. To update or not to update that is the question ?
