Now that BMS 3012 is in the wild, what would happen….in my case anyway…if I ask my installer to add a second 8.2 alongside my existing 8.2 which is on BMS 3012.
I’m assuming the new battery would be on older firmware, so would the commission process immediately upgrade the new battery to 3012, and then do a battery calibration, or would it start calibrating with mixed firmware, whereby I need to upgrade and calibrate again?

ProximusAl the commission would fail if the BMS wasn't up to date.
If the 2 batteries are way out, they will self level too. This BMS can deal with many different issues previously impossible to cope with.
Example, one battery is way too high compare to the other, it can disconnect, go offline at will, till its ready to play the game again.
The BMS is really very improved, and will over time only get better as we evolve the leaning algorithms
TheDragon (GivEnergy) I am thinking of doing the same, adding a 2nd 8.2 kWh battery.
I have successfully uploaded BMS 3012 from 3007 on my existing 8.2 kWh battery (AC 3.6 inverter), with full calibration.
So I presume that a 2nd battery would automatically upload BMS 3012 and calibrate.
But would my existing battery recalibrate, despite it having already been calibrated?

I've caved in and ordered a 2nd 8.2Kwh battery to sit beside my existing.
Being installed June 9th, so I have to try and be patient 🙁

So. If you add a second battery, and it updates its firmware, does just the second battery go through the discharge/recharge process or do bith batteries do it?
Asking for a friend who is getting a second battery fitted shortly.
Please please please. When adding a second battery ensure there within 1v, ideally 0.5v.
Install the FW offline via USB. The new battery will begin talking to the old one, if their SOC and Vbatt are in range, they will happily be married.
If the new one is 52v (Idle) . Old one is 53v, (Idle) discharge it down to match
Then Re-Commission the 2 together
You will have no issues. The biggest problem adding a 2nd battery is the mismatch in SoC & voltage.

Will he understand what you’ve just said if I give it to him verbatim?
I’m almost certain he won’t have the firmware on USB. He’s gonna just throw it in and switch it on I imagine.
ProximusAl batteries usually come around 20% SoC. In that case aim to have your current one near there.

I've just had a second 9.5Kw battery added to my 5Kw Gen 2 inverter and the installer is having issues getting the batteries to calibrate. I did discharge our existing battery down to 10% to make the Discharge and calibration a bit quicker but now have the primary battery at 12% and the secondary at 23%. if I force a discharge will it work for both batteries at the same time as it seems the second battery is charging but not the first one?
i want to add another 9.5 to my existing 9.5. This is what GivEnergy told me when I asked them

in regards to adding another battery, i recommend the installer cross checks the voltages and % of both batteries before installation, he may have to force discharge the current battery or charge it to match the capacity of the new battery,
with the master battery being on 3013 i also recommend a manual firmware update on the master battery before installation of the new battery, then do a manual firmware update on the new battery to 3012 as well. please ask the installer to call us up as soon as he is ready to do the work and we will provide him with the firmware.
just a quick rundown for simplicity:
AC3 and 2 x 8.2
Had major SOC problems on 3015. Recalibration did not rectify issues. Requested move to 3012 , help desk had to move me to 3068 first then to 3012. Waiting to see if SOC problems are resolved.
