In home display

As title is there a device that I can leave on 24/7 in my home such as a smart hub to monitor the give app or cloud?

does the Google nest support this, anyone have such a thing in their house ?

Houser If you have an old Android tablet, Look at an app called: Fully Single App Kiosk. Or if you want to go down a rabbit hole, im sure there are some home assistant fans that will tell you about all the things you can do with it 😉

thewhalw21 yes I was thinking about doing that with the tablet, just wondered if there was something that was a bit more "smart" but no to techy lol

Houser depends how techy you are - you could always look into Home Assistant. I have a Fire Tab which will be left on once I've sorted a mount for it. Does more than just monitor my GE stuff though

Rubikcube Cheers for the link. I was looking for something just like that. Got it running on an old Samsung Galaxy S4 connected directly to the inverter WIFI dongle. Provides a nice in home display of the inverter status to go with the in home display for the electricity smartmeter. Also handy for non-techy people to see how much battery is available going into the Flux peak period. I did try HA on an old Pi but after half a day I gave up. This is a lot easier and can use old hardware (to a point - needs Android 5 upwards).

If it works on Android could it work on an Echo Show? Would the developer need to make that happen?

Just to add some info about "Dark Mode" in Android. Up until Android 8 it was the app developer's responsibility to implement dark mode. In Android 9 Google tried to make it part of the operating system, but messed it up. From Android 10 onwards, dark mode is part of the operating system.

The latest development guidelines (known as MAD - Modern Android Development) suggest that developers should not code dark mode into their apps but leave it to the operating system. As such, for new apps, dark mode only works from Android 10 onwards.

Easiest i think would be an old tablet on the wall and use fully kisok which has already been mentioned.

if you want to go down the rabbit hole, Home assistant + tablet is my go too, I have a load of custom cards with estimated production, savings throughout the day , charge states , import export etc..etc.. Its taken a long time to get it all setup and i cant stop playing with it

Rubikcube Thanks for sharing the link, it took me a while to find an old device that would both power on and that I could install the app on! A couple of devices were running Android 4.4 which as far as I could tell from searching are still supposed to be usable, but I couldn’t get the Google account to login any more. Went through Google’s 2FA OK, got the emails saying a new device was authenticated to my account, but the phone still thought it wasn’t authenticated. Turned 2FA off, added an app password, none of which cured the authentication issue.

Got it working in the end on my wife’s old Android 6 phone which didn’t have the problems of my older devices.

Unfortunately unless there is a magic spell that I couldn’t spot, I discovered that the app only supports a single inverter and I have two hybrid inverters due to the number of panels I have.

Android 4.4 isn't supported by google any more, and it can't connect to the play store. Helpfully it doesn't tell you this anywhere and just sends you in a loop of trying to authenticate.
