Using USB socket with hub to power fan

I have been playing with adding a bit of cooling to my inverter and presently have a battery bank with a USB smart switch running the fan that turns on and off via a Home Assistant automation. The problem I have is that I don't have a socket near the inverter (oversight when I had it installed) so I was wondering if it was "allowed" to unplug the USB stick from the inverter and plug in a hub then plug the stick and a USB fan into the hub.
I know this is probably not advisable but was wondering if it would cause warranty issues and if there was any risk of damaging the inverter by doing this if the USB socket it not a standard design for some reason.

Just realised that someone has asked this question in another thread and it isnt suggested. I did forget to mention the inverter is in my loft so no chance of anything getting wet if I did try a hub.

Zaz I don't have any info on the usb socket in the inverter unfortunately but I'm intrigued by the battery pack and USB smart switch approach. Do you find the fans powerful enough to move enough air to make a difference to temperatures? Also what size battery bank do you have and how long does it last (in terms of time running fans)

Did you get the EPS socket wired in by your installer or some other emergency power circuit?

If not, maybe get one installed and use the socket for the fans?

I got one of these smart switches from Amazon - here.
It is plugged into an old power bank I had lying around but I cant remember the specs for it. It powers a USB fan ok but when the switch was off it didnt pull enough power and the bank went to sleep so I have added a USB thermometer to the second socket on the bank to keep it awake. I have an alarm setup in Home Assistant to alert if the thermometer and switch disappear off the network so I know when the bank is dead. I will report back when it is dead with how long it has lasted and it's specs.

I have the switch set to turn on and off at 38C which seems to be working ok so far but we have not had a very sunny day since I added it so will see what happens then. The fan has two settings and it is on the slowest to save power but I may switch it to the fast setting if the slow setting isn't enough.

Unfortunately the inverter is in the loft and I had them wire the EPS sockets downstairs so they are not close to the inverter hence my issue.

The power bank lasted 4 medium temperature days which isn't great. It has a capacity of 26800mAh/99.2Wh so not the smallest bank available but could probably get larger. I'd prefer not to have to go up into the loft more than once a week so would need a battery bank that is at least twice the capacity although if the power bank didnt go to sleep I wouldnt need to be running the thermometer off it as well so would maybe last longer. Getting a mains socket in the loft might be needed!

use a dc adapter and extend the 12v lead into the loft.

Since it is in the loft and there will be a lighting circuit nearby, an option that occurs would be a 3a fused socket to just run a normal plug in wall wart from. Not even sure the 3a fused part is needed since the 6a breaker on the board will protect the circuit anyway.

There is lighting in the loft which I presume is part of the upstairs lighting circuit. I did think about adding a 3amp fused spur to that with a socket and big sign saying that the socket is only for lower power devices. Not ideal but should be safe enough I think.

GE say no to using the usb port for anything except their dongle as it is not tested or anything else. Difference in voltages etc etc. But the cost of a socket wired nearby costs very little then can use usb pc fans and any usb plug etc. I just plugged mine in and leave them going no matter the temp or weather.

even if you plugged a 2kw heater into it, the main breaker will trip and protect the circuit. Countless TV aerial boosters get power from lighting circuits in the loft, either by use of a socket or direct connection in a JB. It's really not a problem, especially to run a 3 120mm fans.

Ive set up some fans that I got from Amazon which have a 3 pin plug on them.. I use a givenergy smart plug which I've setup in home assistant to turn on the fans when the internal inverter temp goes above 38c and drops off below 35c
