so we have just changed isp and have a new modem, the dongle on the inverter is flashing and therefore not connecting to the cloud. I cannot connect to the dongle with my phone as I don't have the password (which isn't the serial no of the dongle) Anyone have any helpful ideas to solve this issue, this can't be the first time this issue has arisen.
New WIFI, No Dongle connection

TonyAbse change your wireless name (SSID) and password to match your previous one, everything not just the dongle will reconnect.
As for how, depends on the routers but a Google search should give you instructions
good idea in principle, everything else reconnected but the inverter did not! any other ideas?
TonyAbse If you changed the wifi to match the old one then it's possible the new router provides a lower strength signal to the area where the inverter is.
Have you seen this guide on the kB site?
Try turning off 5ghz in the modem.
Also, as long as youre sure that the DEID and password are exactly as per your old one, then just leave it for a couple of hours. For some reason it can take a while to connect

TonyAbse How long have you left the dongle flashing for? It has taken up to 2 hours for mine to establish a connection (but when it does the connection stays up and is reliable).
The GivEnergy inverter dongle is the most unpredictable (by a considerable margin) of my devices when it comes to making a wi-fi connection. It is not the inverter location that is the problem in my case. I have tried moving the router to the garage and it made no difference.
I did find that giving my router's 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands different SSID names helped to reduce lengthy connection times. You haven't just swapped from a single band router to a dual band have you? In any event, if your new router is dual band you could try changing the name of the 5GHz SSID to something different.

Zakalwe DEID
??
positor1 typo! SSID! Aka the name of the wireless connection.
Something like BT6J.... Or if imaginative IPFreely or FBIVan1 🤣

My bad.
Damn autocorrect strikes again.
Was supposed to be SSID.

Thank heavens that I did not add that to the acronym thread. i did search for its meaning haha
The modern day curse of fat dyslexic thumbs, autocorrect and a phone screen. Ally that to forum software that won't allow an edit once someone has replied and you have the perfect recipe for confusion!
well got there in the end, used the online instructions for resetting the dongle, not too difficult but not straight forward either. The dongle is working but failed to do the software update. Another problem for another time i think!,
thanks to everyone. :-)
