Was wondering if anyone had, had an additonal battery installed by a different company to the orginal install. Is it a simple case of them just asking GE to recommision after they've hooked it up, or do they need the original installers access?
Reason for asking, i've been quoted £3k for another 5.2kwh which seems rather high, so need to know if i can shop around.
Of course you can, if there was a missing password to gain access a GE certified installer can ask GE to reset so even that wouldn't be a problem.
If that £3k includes VAT, then not too bad a price.

thewhalw21 I had a second battery added by a different company as my original installer quoted a silly price. I paid £3200 to add another 8.2kWh a few months ago. The physical installation was fine but the second installer basically said "right, we can't access your account so call GE and sort it out with them"...and then they left. GE sorted it out when I called them though.
judgepd This ^^ but my installer did call GE rather than leaving me to do it. I think I paid around £3300 for the 9.5kw last October. It was part of a bigger project though so various deals/discounts applied.
But based on the price of a 5.2kw Id say £2200 for battery installed, add on £100 - £150 for any other electrical bits that might be needed.
wilfleek If you Google “vat for battery storage” you’ll see that there is movement in allowing zero VAT for battery installations in addition to what is currently in place, I.e. no VAT if battery installed with full solar PV installation. Now, before peeps gets too excited, this has been talked about for months but the articles I’ve read today show the biggest progress….

Dom66 that was in place last year and I was not charged VAT when I had my panels and battery fitted, did they stop it and are bringing it back? Issue now is if I want another battery I'll have to pay VAT
Cdent yes no vat with solar & battery installed together. But battery on its own is +VAT. That is what they might change as it is stupid not too. No change to battery with solar installed together.
I'm not sure if you may find an installer that will do the no vat as long as you install one panel? So you might find you can squeeze one in somewhere? even if shaded?!
thewhalw21 I've got 5 Pylontech batteries, attached to a Goodwe inverter and feed the output of the Goodwe system to a number of sockets in the chalet, and outside. Allowing the Goodwe grid input to be pulled from the GivEnergy side of the CT clamp. This allows me via HomeAssistant, NodeRed and GIVTCP to charge either GivEnergy or Goodwe from each other, and charge both from the grid in parallel if required, and also if pulling to much power from GIVEnergy battery to supplement it from the Goodwe batteries. ie 4.8kWh from batteries all at once if I want. It all works well together. so you can save money by mixing and matching systems. The next plan is to use the V2L from the car to also supply energy as required .
