Octopus have reopened Tracker to customers with a switch date of 1st July (includes all those on the waiting list)

Current Tracker elec is around 17p and gas 4p. Nearly half capped rates.

With Export Fixed at 15p for a year (CURRENTLY!). I think almost certain the export rates will be cut in very near future

Tim Adams I've signed up to the fixed export rate for 12 months so I am expecting that rate to remain at 15p for the duration.

In the T's & C's I can't see where they state they can change the fixed rate during the contract.

Am I wrong?

Stevef1964 no, i have done the same. They will honour anyone on fixed contracts for their one year term (from the date signed up).

But I think the chances are VERY high the rate will be cut for new contracts in near future. Based on Tracker prices where the cost of electricity is around 7 or 8p within total cost 17p currently ... and remembering the 15p export rate was introduced last Sept when rates were all far higher ... doubling at that time from 7.5p.

I would not be surprised if we saw rates drop to somewhere in the region of 7.5p to 10p

Stevef1964 If it is one of their smart or beta tariffs isn't there a bit in their T's and C's that they can change you to another product? Not sure they would to be honest, and not sure if the 12 month fixed are in their smart/beta tariffs either. I just vaguely recall something like that on the intelligent tariff

THALL It's not one of their smart tariff's I don't think. You can't have it in conjunction with one of them.

I've been on the tracker since feb and it's basically halved my electric cost and my gas has gone down by 2/3rds. I do think we'll get to a point where it will dip below the fixed export, then it will be interesting how low it goes.
