kWh on electricity differs to reports on app

Don't know if anyone else has experienced this, it's my first summer with PV and batteries
According to my utility bill I used 408 kWh from April 28th to May 28th, I've checked the readings... they match

But the app tells me I have drawn only 177kWh....
Something isn't right.. has anyone else experienced it and how did they fix it ?

perhaps your CT clamp is in the wrong place and only measuring one circuit.
post some pictures of your installation.

Glamorgan the app (and portal) gets the grid import from your EM115 and grid CT. The EM115 can’t readily detect very small values of energy flow (say less than 50W) but flows above the small value are detected and registered in the relevant import or export register, read and reported by the inverter to the cloud. It’s this inverter input that is used in ECO mode to control the inverter to minimise grid import/export.

For small differences in Smart meter vs app values, I’d question if the EM115 CT wasn’t clipped in firmly. But from the magnitude of the difference between your values, I’d question whether the CT was fitted in the right place. It should be installed ideally between the DNO supply fuse and the energy supply meter. There can sometimes be a Henley block fitted between the smart meter and consumer unit to take a supply off to another consumer unit which would skew readings.

Whatever the reason, and error in excess of 100% can’t be right.

Do you have an EV? My app doesn’t show the power drawn by the car at all. For the total I just look at Octopus. The car figures show on either the Tesla app or Hypervolt (if it works! Another story…..). The electrician did ask if I wanted the car connected but recommended not to if I wasn’t going to charge via solar which I wasn’t. Must admit I didn’t fully understand what this meant but it has worked fine with the car and house not affecting each other.

Ahhh yes I have an EV... I'm transitioning over to Octopus.... And the charge point is fed from a separate tail from the meter
I was advised it doesn't matter... But clearly it does... Thank you

Tim hi Tim thank you... I've the installer back next week to add a 3rd battery... I'll ask him, but I may be stuck with it as I'm charging the EV from a separate meter tail... Thank you for the advice

Glamorgan If your installer can fit the CT between the DNO fuse and the meter, it'll really help, especially if you have a Zappi or other EV charger that can be configured to divert export to EV. Our EV sits outside just waiting for export to exceed 1.4kW, then its starts diverting; "sit back and relax" charging.

Just had this installed. Noticed that we're always drawing from the grid, around 70w. The CT is between the meter and Henley Block.

HK Does the value ever change? You don't say what plant you have. If you've just had your system installed, it could be an installation error. If your battery calibration shows up on the portal and makes sense, then the 70W might be "noise" which you could reduce by twisting the black and white cores between the CT and EM115, in a helix. If the battery calibration didn't show up at all, then the CT is in the wrong place.

Tim The value does change. We've got a GEM120CTM. Yeah, the battery calibration says it completed a couple of days back.
