Battery (9.5kW) went from 62% at 00:30 to 0% at 00:45 last night. I’ve lost track of the progress on this though- is there a FW update that improves things yet or is it a case of live with them for now?

Battery SOC plummet- any solutions or part of the course for now?

Yes, FW 3012 has been released that might fix this for you. If you don't have the update button on the portal check in with support see if they can help load it manually
just checked and the battery is already running 3012

If it’s any consolation I think you may win the biggest drop on 3012 award unless anyone can beat it…
Do I win a key ring? 😂 hopefully there’s a solution before winter where I’ll really need it to earn its keep for the ASHP!
And this has happened within a few weeks of a full battery calibration when 3012 was installed?
I had jump from 75% to 100% and later on drop from 40% to zero in a few days. And all this happened like 2 weeks after 3012 were installed and full recalibration. Was told to wait for new inverter firmware. Will see..
3012 was installed on the 17th May and I got a message to say calibration was finished but thinking back I got that after the battery had only reached 40% ish. How do I get another calibration done? EDIT - have emailed support
GE are updating the inverter firmware so we’ll see what happens
hoggy 54% to 1% for me, so I don't win.
I think the issue is we are not getting into the lower half of the battery much with all the good weather
Anyway as others have said, some new battery firmware being tested.

I have a new BMS to try too. it better maintains SOC if always above 50%
version 3069, same as 3012, but wider SOC calibration region, no calibration needed
TheDragon (GivEnergy) that sounds great! Thanks! My serial is ED2253G230
TheDragon (GivEnergy) Can I get 3069 please? CE2122G263
My 8.2 rarely goes below 50% at the moment, although I’ve not had any huge SOC corrections I’m finding it significantly more volatile than than before I upgraded to 3012.
Thanks

Ok you have the new Inverter FW, so can control the advanced parts of this BMS.
@ChrisRowe you will 1st need the AC3 beta
TheDragon (GivEnergy) is that the new Inverter firmware. Can I get that or is my inverter too old?

ChrisRowe no age limit on AC3.
Just Gen1 hybrid
TheDragon (GivEnergy) Can you update the inverter firmware for me please?
Would it be possible to get my ac3 inverter firmware updated? I'm currently on Version D0.535-A0.535 with my 2 x 9.5 batteries on 3012

Graham_Harrison OK. WIll do now.
@ChrisRowe Will update Inverter & BMS to 3069

The dongle has a stuck file, so its only half loaded. SO I have reverted the DSP back to 535. The ARM file is corrupted and wont load
Remove the dongle from the inverter and place in a laptop.
A USB drive will show, on it will be files,
Copy the MSN.txt and put on your desktop (Keep safe)
right click the drive and format it.
Now put back the MSN.txt file
eject and place back in the inverter
I will try again
TheDragon (GivEnergy) Thanks a lot for doing this for me, unfortunately I'm at work and will be until 18:30 tonight, I'll have a look as soon as I get home if I get chance, if not I'll do it tomorrow morning
TheDragon (GivEnergy) Ah, that explains the battery being unexpectedly idle for a time this morning! I’ve only just looked at the forum. Thanks very much, I’ll report back on what differences I see
TheDragon (GivEnergy) right click the drive and format it.
will it ask what format to use such as FAT or FAT32

ALL DONE and back in inverter
After a few recent issues with battery dropping out, Tech support updated my firmware to 3012 a couple of weeks back. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have fixed the problem judging by today's drop from 96% to 0%!! Also frustrating that it doesn't appear to have recharged at all, meaning that, on the sunniest day of the year, I've missed out on any export (Flux) and also had to pay to import.
When I spoke to Tech support they also said there was a clamp issue but I'm not sure if this is related to the drop-out issue. They've emailed my installer with the following message but I'm still waiting to hear anything back,
"I have had a call off Alex today with suspicion that his system isn't quite working correctly, after a review of his system and some settings changes I also believe the system is not acting right. I performed a settings changed that told my system flip the clamp and start reading it backwards and it started working. This means someone will have to go flip the clamp and give us a call to change the setting as leaving it like this could provide strange meter readings and if the setting are ever returned to default it will return the system to the broken state. Also either the black CT clamp is also acting strange or there is some solar PV source I am not monitoring, if you could send someone to investigate whats happening that would and giving us a call from site that would be great."
Any thoughts, help or ideas would be appreciated. (Although I'm not particularly techy).
Cheers

I think the new firmware may have some inadvertent side effects that it wipes your charge timers & eco mode etc.
I'd go to the portal and do a full setting reset, followed by a reboot and start again to see if it burst into life.

Sadly, it has happened to me as well. I have been running 3012 for several weeks. It was fine, but the system still can not accurately measure the SOC.
I've contacted GivEnergy and they've suggested getting the installers out and then getting the installers to call the Tech Support team when they're on-site to try and bottom things out. They're coming out on Wednesday so hopefully things will be resolved.
I wasn't sure how to go a reset as per @hoggy 's suggestion but I followed the instructions for Shutdown & Restart. After a minute or so, the battery showed as being 100% again.

Let's see what happens over the next few days.
TheDragon (GivEnergy) Could you load 3069 onto mine please? SA2202G173. Its an older 3.6 hybrid and an 8.2 battery. During summer its usually sat in the upper half. Have experienced 2 drops from 20% to 0 since being on 3012 when forcing a discharge. Have also seen a SOC recalibration when I forced an idle at 10%, gained another 4% back to 14%.
Thanks.
TheDragon (GivEnergy) @ChrisRowe Will update Inverter & BMS to 3069
Can my system still be updated?
I did what was requested with my dongle but have heard nothing since
TheDragon (GivEnergy)
Well, I inadvertently gave the new BMS a good work out last night, by leaving the car plugged in and forgetting I had a timed charge set up on Zappi! The battery performed perfectly following a nice linear route down to 4% and then charging up again when the Solar started generating.
Thanks again, for fixing this.

Graham_Harrison I cant track every single conversation, I go over each thread over a few days
Found yours, now will update to the Beta AC3
Battery drop, wonder if this qualifies, I was seeing low export once charged, today, full export and 100% to zero in five min, gues thats around 400kWh...wow who knew.

have fun
TheDragon (GivEnergy) thank you.
Should this update help stop the sudden SOC drops which appear to have been getting caused by a cell (or cells) overcharging

Is there a reason that my system doesn't show todays date for the latest software update?

jocky Looks more like a comms error than an SOC crash? Worth a call to GE support in my opinion.
Graham_Harrison that date might relate to the inverter firmware update rather than battery?
TX200
The date is from when my batteries firmware was updated
My inverter firmware was updated today
chris_p Thanks Chris, tried the feedback form nothing yet, and them the phone, but by then it was out of hours, installers only, "no tech help available on this number", so I have e-mailed the installer, he might pick it up...but until then two dead batteries, tried switching them both off, and switching off the invertor, all back on, reset setting...and still two dead batterie, with the flux high tariff, it was an expensive tea time...guess I will just have to wait, and it was going so well..just the last few days. hope this is not a sign of things to come.
having a bad day
jocky wow 20:45 the slave battery came back at 80% SOC. one down one to go...no idea what is going on here.
Maybe the installer is at work
Keeps life interesting

jocky people seem to be getting this on the new BMS. It's most likely a single cell has gone overcharged/ underchargged- the BMS switches the pack off (so the SOC goes to 0)
Once you start needing power from them and the SoC of all the other packs are the same level as the one that has gone offline it seems to then reconnect the pack and allow discharge (where the SoC will jump back to wherever it was)
GE say that the BMS learns from this so will likely not charge as high next time.
(I thought they had cell balancers on these BMS's (do these even run anymore? Peoples graphs on here suggest perhaps not with cells out by considerable margin) so I'm unsure why it needs to work like this as opposed to the more traditional bleed off the high cell/trickle charge the low ones to even them all out and then return pack to service.)
hoggy Cheers Hoggy, It still not right, one battery has not come back, although according to the power graph I have had a short discharge and recharge cycle, the SOC is all over the place, rapid falls and rises, and the stated capacity is now reading 6kW and 128AH...so will give support a ring.
happy days
jocky Givenergy support, had a look and looks like the battery BMS are FUBAR and need the installer to dismantle and check the batteries...so he will try to pop in this afternoon.

jocky unfortunate but I guess it has to happen to someone at some point. Never nice to see your new toy break though.
Hopefully it's just a one off & the fault was an underlying defect rather than something amiss with the new FW but the GE engineers have some uber tools to interrogate the BMS and find out.
hoggy On a positive note (accepting that in-service failure is a fact of life and manufacturers expect a certain rate of failure), with firmware that appears to be performing well, where there are actual hardware problems, these are much easier to see than before.
Tim All sorted, the battery BMS lost comms with the invertor, the installer came back this afternoon, after chatting to Givenergy support, disconnected the BMS and reconnected it, all back and working, looks like the BMS just locked up. even the battery softoff switch on the righthand side failed to work...but all done
Happy days
TheDragon (GivEnergy) Just had large SOC corrections at both ends in the last 12 hours on 3069.

jocky Well its gone again, battery info make no sense says 6.kW capacity and not the 19kw as fitted and temp at 0 degrees. that is twice in two weeks wonder if I have a faulty BMS, always starts with a battery over voltage, But when you look back at the data, the battery is reporting a lower voltage than it recorded while still working.
so E-Mailed the installer again. fingers crossed.
have fun
jocky soft battery reset using the RHS button, a couple of beeps on each battery and all came back a few min latter, 100% but capacity not working on the invertor page 125Ah and 6.4 kWh. so guess there is still a problem, although the battery says its exporting at 3.6 Kw

jocky 125Ah means the inverter has defaulted to Lead Acid mode.
I'd guess that the battery bms cable is loose somewhere.
I had the same issue, SOC dropped to 0, and battery reduced in capacity. I went ahead and restarted the battery and that seemed to have fixed it. What I don't understand is what caused this issue?
