WiFi Coexistence issues

Hi Community!

I've only just had my GivEnergy system commissioned and I'm getting frustrating issues with WiFi settings on the dongle. I want to set its channel so as not to interfere with my home WiFi but for some reason setting it on the "AP Interface Setting" page has no effect it wants to match my home WiFi channel. So it goes like this, I change the channel on my router to 1, and then change the channel on the dongle to 11. When I restart the dongle is just jumps back to channel 1.

Frustrating because I'm getting lots of dropouts and disconnects from my home devices. Any ideas please! 🙂

Assuming you are connecting your inverter via wifi to your home network then the inverter dongle and router need to be on the same wifi channel to communicate. The interference could be down to your neighbours wifi being on the same channel. Most routers have an auto channel select option which picks the best one for you. If your inverter has a lan connection I would use that instead

Koan25 do you mean you want to keep it separate from other devices on your network? You'll need a separate SSID for that as the router channel and client channel need to be the same otherwise they won't connect.

I have two separate SSIDs on my router - one for all my smart home devices including the GE kit, and a main one for phones/computers, etc.

I think he means he wants the dongles STA (The separate SSID that is broadcast by the dongle, usually its serial number) to be on a different channel.

I also wanted to do the same but it seems impossible.

ProximusAl have you tried adding a separate (additional) WIFI SSID dedicated to the Inverter? then you can have it on its own channel and it will not interfere with home WIFI.

The inverter itself emits its own SSID. Nothing to do with your home router.

My HOME SSID...lets call it HOMENET, transmits on CH 1 and 6 (multiple APs). It would make sense for the inverter to transmit it's own SSID on say 11 to not interfere with the others.

Yes, the inverter connects to your home SSID, in order to connect to the internet, but the dongle itself is a WiFi Bridge, emitting it's own SSID. It is this channel that seems to not want to change.
