Possibly some of this has already been asked - I’ve only had a cursory look.
I’m getting an EV later in the year all being well. - currently slated as sometime between September and November. Originally it was December to feb 24 so is improving!
As part of the deal with OctopusEv I get a charger - the standard one is the Ohme pro which plays nice with IO.
The car is itself I believe compatible with IO - though I think it depends what version electronics are on board - but mine should be the latest - hopefully v4.x (Skoda Enyaq)
My initial thought was the Zappi so that it can natively use the excess solar. However the zappi isn’t compatible with IO - but with the car being so shouldn’t be an issue.
However, I’ve worked out that I need a 10m cable from the charger to the car (well I can do it with less but that means swapping the cars on the drive daily which is madness frankly as otherwise the other one won’t be driven for days sometimes.
The ohme pro is tethered- and the untethered ohme is not compatible with IO (afaik)
The tethered zappi doesn’t come with a long enough lead either - so would need to be untethered and a suitable cable sorted. Which is a bit of a pain in the arse as the zappi is an extra over anyway and the cable will be as much again.
So the other potential option - if OctopusEv add it to their list - is the GivEnergy one - which has obvious benefits
Anyone have any other thoughts or ideas?
Oh I do have HA so could write some suitable code. I will probably have to sort something to stop the hot water diverter from taking the excess solar too if the car is available and there is enough to charge the car - but that will probably be done on my heating control system which is a bit more flexible- and to be fair I know that code better than HA!
