I have just installed an eddi and seem to have some teething issues. My system comprises a 9.5kw battery, hybrid inverter and 8 panels. I have set an export margin of 100w for 30 secs before the eddi kicks in. Most of the time it works fine but this evening it started drawing more and more power. Generation was at 200w but the eddi was drawing 300w which then slowly ramped up taking more out of the battery.
If i turn the eddi off and on again to reset it, then it plays nicely. Is there a setting i need to change?

Hey Richard there's probably lots of folks here with Eddi experience but I had to play with a system recently to get it to charge an ev with excess and we found that setting the export threshold to 100w or even 200w wasn't working for us as the CT clamp for the solis inverter just wasn't that sensitive and the whole system got it's self into a pickle. Setting the threshold way up seemed to smooth things out for us. There was another issue recently that needed MyEnergi to remotely update the firmware but i'm not aware of the symptoms, i'll find out if it's relevant for you.

Zappi and eddi use a “myenergi devices” grid CT. One of the devices must include a grid CT or a a harvi must have one.

All myenergi devices will monitor the grid and function based on the readings from that.
If eddi isn’t set up to see this grid CT either directly if it is the master or via the master device of it is not then it can’t react to export.

In terms of the eddi getting greedy then stick consuming, I think there’s is a firmware bug that is or will be fixed to address this.

The most recent update ( approx 2 weeks back) proved faulty but i assume corrected by now?

I acnt help with the OP's issue as i have ac3 so eddi knows exactly what power is coming from where.

Pass, but I know I had to set up a zappi where the installer had got the grid CT misconfigured.
Like you're we're now going down the AC Coupled route.

I have an Eddi and Zappi. The Zappi is set to the master Myenergi device with the export trigger set to 50w. The Eddi plays well with the Givenergi (HYbrid 5 gen2) batteries (X2 5.2 kWh) on the whole but does occasionally pull energy from the battery but usually, this is not significant to over-draining the battery for overnight use in the summer months and by the time the water reaches its full temp there is still sunshine left to top up the batteries before the evening. I only had the system installed in April this year so do not know what will happen in the winter but I did not expect the Eddi to be of much use as there will likely be no excess solar. The experience is similar to the Zappi.

I do have a CT on the AC output of the Inverter to the Consumer unit and since fitting that the Myenergy products work more consistently. The installer had installed the 2 supplied CTs (one each with Eddi and Zappi) to the grid supply wiring one to the Zappi and one to the Eddi. This was incorrect (after talking to Myenergy) as there only needs to be one for the master unit the other will use the same one. I used the then spare CT to pick up the AC output of the Inverter. The Myenergy App is inaccurate as it only sees the net of the solar +/- of the battery charge or discharge but it does seem to help the system work better.
