Charging battery with Octopus Agile

I think I have set it up to charge the battery when the price goes below 17p, although I am not sure I have done it correctly.

How do I tell the battery to listen to the ‘Octopus’ instructions rather the normal ‘Settings’ instructions or is this automatic?

Is there any way of me knowing, short of waiting to see if the battery runs down, if the Agile ‘timer’ is actually working?

Help greatly appreciated.

Correction - I am being silly. I set up my ASHP to run below 17p not my battery. I thing I set the battery to charge at the cheapest daily rate but I am very confused hence the help request.

Is there a YouTube video that would help me please.

DavidMyers If you have your smart tarrif intergrated with GivEnergy app, you should have a section in there called automations which have some handy settings. The settings get applied arounf 00:00-00:30 from memory. Or you can use the Octopus R and D lab app to do the same thing as your ASHP. Octopus app will overwrite any settings you've setup in the app. (Tho not sure if it overwrites any automations)

Would I be right in thinking it should switch itself on and off whenever the unit price is low or high throughout the day. Does ir work out an average unit price and switch on charging when a certain percentage cost of this. Also does it aim to get the battery to 100% by a certain time of day?

DavidMyers The built in automation looks for the cheapest continuous slot to fit your charge in. i remember there being a few in there depending on your needs. There was a charge to 100%, Charge based on predicted next day solar and a couple others. If you're already on agile you should be able to link into the GE app and they'll pop up.

Could I ask one more thing please. - Will it only look for one cheap band or will it switch on and off charging whenever it sees a cheap band?

It might be working as it ignored the setting I told it to come on for during the night and seems to have chosen 2 hours this afternoon. Unfortunately I need a 3.5hour slot to fully charge the battery.

DavidMyers the automation runs at 12:30 and picks one slot, so what you see in your charge settings in the morning is what it's calculated for you.
