I have a firmware update available, I see that the batteries (2 x 2.6kWh) will discharge and charge to recalibrate themselves, what are the ideal conditions to have a successful discharge and charge up using solar. Set appliances going when there isn't much solar earlier in the morning during the discharge and then after 2 hours hopefully when the solar kicks in, it will use it to charge? What are people's experiences?
I did mine in the morning when the battery was already discharged and was then charged by the sun. But I did it a couple of months ago.
S I would do it when the batteries are at their lowest and hope the sun charges them - if not it will cost you what £1? Not worth stressing over surely?
I started at 7.20AM on what turned out to be a sunny morning. Battery was at about 55%. Cost me about 1.1kWh from the grid.
gwynnej3 I did similar a couple of weeks back and it worked out OK. It did use a small amount of grid but it was less than £1 for sure.
I have not had our system long, since April in fact. I guess the point of having a solar and battery system is at least to minimise the grid use if not eliminate it in the summer. The experience so far has made me a kind of grid miser and I now tend to resent any grid use even if over a month it is minimal and a lot less than the extortionate daily standing charge these days!
Thank you all, yes I should not be bothered about a little import, but like killythebid I am a grid miser and a tight Yorkshireman, however in the grand scheme of things I'm just over a year into having the system and although I still need to finish crunching the numbers I'm close to a £1500 annual saving versus not having the system. I haven't had any issues since the end of last Summer, then the other day I got a jump from 75% to 100% so probably should get around to updating the firmware.

I updated the Inverter software today and all is OK.
I am on a TOU tariff and that starts at 00:30 to 04:30 so might stay up late one night as I have Yorkshire blood in me...
BTW what version are folk upgrading from and to?
Any issues with the firmware upgrade?
Any notes on what the new firmware fixes / improves?
