Hi I recently had a GivEnergy solar system installed:

12 Panels, 6 east, 6 west.
5KW gen 1 hybrid inverter
9.5kw GivEnergy Battery

I already had a old 3kw FIT system (no battery) that is completely separated from the new install.

For some reason the GivEnergy system seems to think I am exporting when importing and vice versa. The battery wants to charge when pulling from the grid, and wants to discharge when I am exporting to the grid already. I have contacted the installers however they haven't got back to me.

Am I right to presume this is a physical installation issue, rather than something that can be changed in the settings?

Separately, does Givenergy have a way to connect to an ethernet cable? The WiFi was left as an open network, and anyone could connect to it and use it to gain access to the internet through my WiFi. I have since set a password but would prefer to run a physical cable if it's possible.

Sounds like the CT clamp, located near the meter or consumer unit, on the incoming mains cable, is the wrong way around.

You'll find plenty of posts on here re that!

As for the WiFi there's a guide to securing it on the givEnergy KB site if you haven't already found that.

The Gen1 doesn't have an ethernet connection to my knowledge. Gen 2 onwards.

I agree with the above the simplest answer is the CT clamp so worth checking first. Normally they will be fitted to the incoming meter before going into the Consumer Unit/Fuse Box live cable and the CT has an arrow on it for the direction to be fitted. It will be the opposite way if it is on the neutral cable. It won't blow anything up by trying it the other way.
