Question from a Newbie - Old Portal or New Beta Portal and its settings?

Hey all

I am new to Solar and GivEnergy battery ownership, only had them both a few days.

I am just a bit confused about the two portals and the app too. Now I have set up the system to use mode 1 in the old portal and current app however its been recommended to use the new beta portal.

Now I have logged onto the new portal and gone to the different settings you can set the system up, the question I have is what portal do I set this up the old one or new one? I notice that the new Eco mode is shown as disabled but in the old portal it shows mode 1 as active. Everything appears to work ok but I want to make sure everything is setup correctly and I am just trying to learn as much as I can about the system.

Whats the best course of action, do I disable mode 1 in the old, turn off the smart battery timings in the old portal and then turn on Eco mode in the beta portal and smart charge in the beta portal?

I cant make out which portal has priority over the other and I don't want to make changes to settings and then it go all wrong?

Basically ignore the old portal and the app and set what you need on the new beta dashboard. I would only use the new dashboard going forward. I only ever open the app on my phone to view current generation

THALL ok will do. I have recently changed the battery charge timing within the app on smart charge section, should I disable this and then reactivate the setting within the new portal?

I cant deactivate the mode 1 in the old portal so shall I just enable Eco mode in the new one and go from there and use the new portal going forwards.

I am assuming the new portal overwrites the old portals settings?

Turnipfarmer84 You might find using the app will not make changes, if you set something on the app then look on the new dashboard it might not appear at all. Whatever you set on the new dashboard should take over.

I had my system installed in December and would echo what Thall has recommended, just use the beta portal. The legacy portal is going to be phased out so no point in getting used to that. Thats the way I have looked at it anyway. I use the app to see generation but remember there is a 5 minute refresh and the figures shown on the portal/app are a snapshot at that specific 5 minute time stamp. It doesn't represent anything other than that, no averages etc. You'll very quickly become used to things, I access the beta portal on my phone a lot as well, it works well for this.
