If my battery is let's say 50% full and I charge my vehicle at night my electricity is cheaper at night so I'd rather not waste the batterys energy as it can be used at morning when energy is expensiver! Is there a way to change this?
The battery doesn’t know your car is charging, it just see’s a load and will discharge to cover it.
To prevent the battery from discharging, set the house battery to charge during the times you want to charge the car. If you don’t want the battery to charge, set a lower battery percentage. Your house will run from the grid during this time.

This is correct, but the battery will discharge to feed the EV until the lower Charge to % is reached.
Or depending on the house wiring, move the GivEnergy CT clamp off the main incoming cable/tail, move it to the cable that goes to the house consumer board/fuse box.
Obviously that all depends on how the car charger is wired up. E.g. does it have it's own consumer unit and is the incoming mains split at a Henley block etc.
TX200 good thinking, this would work with my setup if I wished to achieve what the OP has asked.
For me, I like having the Zappi in ECO mode in the day and when there’s cloud cover, the GE battery kicks in.
(Our chargers are on a separate circuit split from the Henley block)
