Hello,

I'm changing from BT to a different provider in a couple of weeks time. It just occurred to me that as the wifi will change, the inverter will no longer communicate without some sort of reconfiguration.

I assume anything important will still be sent through the smart meter, so I don't need to worry about causing any billing issues or the inverter stopping etc. But, I will need to change the wifi stuff, if I want to use the givenergy cloud portal. Can anyone direct me to instructions on how I change whatever things I'm likely to need changing, as the installer set it up the first time.

Thank you.

The easiest option is usually to logon to the new router's admin page and change the WiFi name (aka ssid) and password to that of the old router.

Thus every device should automatically connect with no need to do anything.

If you need it there's a guide to changing the dongle password on the GivEnergy KB site (Google GivEnergy KB dongle should work to find it).

There are some issues around mesh type WiFi (search this forum for more info). Older GE dongles don't work on 5Ghz WiFi either, so you might need to do something extra to get the dongle working in some cases. Again search this site if need be.
