Hybrid and AC Coupled. - two batteries?

I’ve an old string inverter that needs replaced. (Non-GE). I also have a AC coupled inverter and 5.2 kw battery (GE).

If I replace my string inverter with GE hybrid are there any challenges in having two batteries one off each? Or am I better to stick with a string inverter and add another battery to the AC coupled.

Also have Zappi 2 that needs to know there’s power available or to pause batteries in both. Works fine now. It with future setup, would Zappi know about a battery behind hybrid. I suspect not.

Another thought would be to switch PV inverter to hybrid but no battery and have the capacity to shift the battery over if the AC coupled ever failed beyond repair in the future.

AlyBee22 Multiple inverter installations aren't (weren't?) recommended by Givenergy. I think that the issue is that the portal doesn't do the sums properly. There are at least a couple of us with dual hybrid installations and there are some with AC3 "plant" installations but AFAIK, nobody with Givenergy hybrid and Givenergy AC coupled. That said, the two inverters won't be connected together in any way (other than at 240V), so should operate in isolation as if they were the only inverter on the system. Given your situation, I'd go for the Givenergy hybrid as it would increase your capacity to meet higher house loads from battery, but whether you can find an installer willing to take on the responsibility of supporting an installation not recommended by the manufacturer is another thing.

AlyBee22 adding a second battery to the AC3 would increase both your capacity and the peak discharge rate from 2.6kW to the full 3kW. My preference would be a like-for-like replacement of the string inverter, especially if it's an older system with FIT payments, it keeps it simple.
