Heya everyone, I have recently become super confused over what I can discharge to the grid via the All in One system and the inverter I have, given the setup and the AIO having its own inverter I was under the assumption I would need a G99 application and I was assured by installer I would get a G99 application but after getting portal info for all my documentation its G98.

I have the Solax X1-3.6-T-D.

Does this mean I cannot export at 6kw? I assumed the DC inverter just handled the power from the panels to the AIO unit then the AIO handled everything thereafter?

I have not been able to manually test via a forced discharge yet due to spotty wifi due to wifi antenna not being installed and still waiting for them to come and rectify and after turning it on losing the ability to turn it off.

The AIO is AC coupled and you’ll definitely need a g99 before installation. Gateway supports g100 also, which can be used to export limit.

kram I thought so, installer only done g98 and the system is already installed, maybe they filed for G98 for inverter and separate G99 that has not come through yet?

That issue puzzled me as well- I don't (can't) have solar but when the battery calibrates it EXPORTS up to 6kW to the grid- is that legal?? (As far as I know I don't have a permit for this- at least the installer hasn't informed me about this) I can absorb the battery discharge to my Tesla if it has spare capacity as it's normally only charged to 80%.

They can’t install it under a g98 as it’s not g98 approved. That’s my understanding and any installer I’ve spoken to said the same.

If the device set export to zero and was g98 certified, then once g99 granted the could be configured by DNO to export that might be different.

That shows only g99a and g100

kram Thanks for that, installer has said nothing about that, I am going to phone up UKPN on monday to see if I can check the status of any DNO applications but if it shouldn't have been installed im going to have to have words with the installer as well.

I have had nothing but headaches since it was installed and they are dragging their feet in rectifying not doing a full install (didnt fit the antenna and decided to just take it with them which they shouldnt have as its my property, I have paid for the system any additional items not installed should have been left with me).

Was installed on the 19th and still losing massive gaps and sometimes offline for days and all I have wanted them to do is come round, power it off and flip a switch for LAN but apparently that takes longer to sort than a timeslot for an actual install.

I am at this point in time rapidly losing my patience.

I get constant inverter offline/timeout messages so cannot interact with the system at all reliably so if I change a setting there is a chance I wont be able to change it back or reset any settings so cant use any octopus solar tariffs so I am afraid of trying to export without the proper approval and if I set it to force discharge there is no guarantee I can turn it off after if I run into timeout/offline messages.

I have no idea personally how to shut everything off to make sure its safe nor feel confident enough to remove covers etc etc and it shouldn't be down to me to sort out regardless.

Also my battery when system is working gets to 13-18% and then just drops to 5% minimum and I go to grid and im worried about doing a full charge incase I cant turn it off as above.

Something doesn’t sound right. I would speak to GE as if a registered installer left you in that state, you would hope they would care!

As for the g99 etc the DNO will know the rules better than others 👍

kram It was a registered installer, confirmed via their installer page.

I am calling my DNO tomorrow to confirm if an application was filed along with the G98 then after that im on the phone to the installer because if they can't find someone to come round to power everything off and flip a switch in two weeks so I can actually test my system to see if there are any issues then I am worried for any actual problems in the future.

System will have been installed 3 weeks this week and the only time I manually charged the battery to full once I couldn't connect to the inverter to put it back to normal for half an hour so have been hesitant to try and do absolutely anything because despite it somehow staying connected and green I am still having gaps that can last hours and constant inverter timeout messages despite the inverter status being green dot in the portal and whilst despite all of this and it doing 5m updates local still doesn't work.

Since then I have not set any charge periods for battery and have just left it to do its thing and with the bad weather its gone to empty quite a few times.

I had to stop using the mobile phone in bridge mode as I kept having to take it out the cupboard to charge it so it would end up dropping out and its just a lot of hassle for a lazy installer.

Commissioning was supposed to take a short while but after an hour they decided they were going to leave as they said it could take a few hours and after everything that has happened I am assuming the power outtages were from the failed updates and commissioning process due to the unit not being completely installed as it was missing the wifi antenna so the timeouts in communications were causing problems.

I think personally they installed it a bit too close to the wall on the side that the connection panel is on the AIO unit as I cant get a standard length screwdriver in the gap to take the communications panel off even if I could see what I was doing.

I am waiting for them to sort it out before I go through the hassle of switching to Octopus and then trying to get on one of the solar tariffs which I hope is a lot less stressful than dealing with the installers.

Just had my AIO installed - and a 5 kW inverter. When set to force discharge the battery - you get the sum of the inverter and AIO going to grid - so in my case circa 10Kw. I've mentioned this to the installer - so hoping they have me covered under the right application. What should I be looking for - is it G99 - do they need to define any kW metrics? (All very confusing this bit)

I cant even test the discharge myself as im afraid I wont be able to turn it off.

My understanding as I’ve been told this by installer and DNO is that any system (all parts) than can export more than 16A per phase needs an approved g99 before installation.

I believe my installer had used a G99 Fast track - whatever that is. I can push over 10Kw to the grid using battery and panel power combined right now - so I guess I should refrain from doing that until I get clarity over the DNO app...

kram Then my installer made a whoopsie then, I am assuming this is due to shower being in use this day but the highest ive seen is 24.7A when topping out at 5911 power.

Didn't get an E-Mail tomorrow so if I don't have one by tomorrow afternoon I am ringing them up, I want this sorted at end of week along with scaffolders or im talking to Citizens Advice about how best to proceed to make a formal complaint against both companies for lack of aftercare, taking property and incomplete installation and property damage.

BlokeFromStoke My installer won't even respond to my inquiry about G99 and whether one had been done just that before I forked over any money they said it would be sent in. Since they got all the money they seem to be fobbing me off.

It took less time to get an install date than it has for someone to come and flip a dip switch after powering off the system then turning it back on.

kram As I said above- I have a AIO but no solar. The installer has sent me the interim email from the DNO showing G98 but no mention of G99. Where can I get a copy of the document you show above? The only time my setup will export is after a software update and I've already seen this go as high as 6kW! Is there a way to set export limit to the G98 max of 3.68kW?

Apparently an AIO can have it's export limited - think tech support have to do it ..

Just off the phone to GivE support- they didn't seem to know anything about G98/99 but offered to deduce my maximum AIO export to 3.68kW to keep it within G98 boundaries- for the time being I've acccepted this and will discuss further with installer.

That's fine but the AIO is not G98 certified, so shouldn't be installed under that.
I would suggest it is a non compliant install
