Firmware update failed

Hello, I'm new to solar and to this the forum and hoping this is the right place to get help.

My inverter has gone offline and refuses to restart.

The only thing I did was to attempt to update the firmware (batteries and inverter). Update failed, either because the inverter had gone offline or possibly that that action somehow caused it to go offline??

I tried turning everything off (according to instructions) and restarting, but to no avail.

I'd be glad of any pointers to get the system running once more.

Hi Lawton. I had exactly the same issue yesterday with the 3013 firmware update. Waited overnight but the inverter was still offline and a reset from the portal had no effect. Turned everything off (Batteries, PV, mains), waited a minute and switched back on. Inverter is back online but battery still discharging even though it's showing zero percent. Possibly still in the calibration phase. I'll see what happens in the next few hours.

Battery calibration finally finished and all appears to be back to normal. @lawton have you managed to get your inverter back online?

JonLees Hi there, the inverter had to be changed. I'm not sure if the replacement was reconditioned or new but I've noticed that it goes offline a lot. Matt B suggested I make an ethernet connection, as opposed to wifi but I'm not sure if that will sort the issue. However, I've now noticed the data disappears around midnight and returns around 4am. I initially thought this might be a continuing offline problem but I just noticed on the community that last year there was a general issue with missing data around midnight. Was it sorted? It's annoying because I rely on timed charging of my batteries in the early hours. Any advice?

lawton if you are on wifi is the dongle on a fixed ip and does your router reset around that time?

Is your ISP Sky?

If so their routers go into "power-saving" mode during the night, which basically means the wifi is turned off and (on SkyQ anyway) ethernet connections are set to 100Mbps/off.

I believe you can change the default behaviour somewhere on the router but as I don't ever use ISP routers I can't help on that one.

Vestas Thanks for responding. No it's not sky. I'm not best served with internet here, but I have no trouble with anything else connected and it was working just fine until recently. I have now res-synchronised the clock and will see what happens tonight...

anglefire hi there, thanks for responding. My intention is to hard-wire the Internet connection once I've routed cabling into my workshop, where the solar kit resides. I'll certainly fix the inverter's address.

JonLees hi, just catching up on these messages: the update failed several times, the inverter corrupted and had to be swapped-out. It took weeks to resolve but I'm working (sort of) once more, despite it going offline quite a lot. I now have gaps in the data overnight so it's hard to see what's going on...
