Automatic Inverter Cooling suggestion

I have considered so many options for inverter cooling and have settled on the following which gives me fully automatic cooling at a cost of £54
I have bought a "4YourHome Electric Radiator Fan" this is designed to sit on a domestic water filled room radiator and blow the heat into the room.
The great thing is that it is the same width as an AC3 inverter and is very low profile being a horizontal fan.
Length: 48cm
Depth 8cm
Cable length: 3m
Weight: 1kg
It has two speed settings but at the fastest speed its no whirlwind however it seems to be enough. I have sited it below the inverter with the air blowing up, it is just sat on two right angled brackets at a distance of 12cm so as not to obstruct the passive air cooling ability of the fins.
To make it automatic I have purchased a "Seamuing Thermostat Socket 13A 230V" at £14
It has 1.8 lead to a probe which i have simply clipped to the top of the inverter fins.
The temperature variation between the probe and the inverter data ranges between 7°c for less than 1kwh charges/discharges and 11°c at charge / discharge rates of 2.5kwh. where the probe is always lower than the internal inverter temp.
At a charge of 2.5kwh the probe measures an increase of .1°c per second with the fan off and drops at about the same rate with it on.
With the ON temp set at 40°c and off set at 34°c the inverter temperature has hit 46.6°c maximum over a few days.

I bought two 120mm PC fans that were wired into a single USB cable. They are plugged into a spare USB transformer that was kicking around from a long forgotten new mobile phone. The fans are sitting on top of the inverter and run 24/7. They've been doing that for 18 months now and I don't think I have seen the inverter temps going above 42.

Total cost £11.99.

A couple of things:-
Why do you think that the inverter needs extra cooling. Is it in a location where it's getting above 50°C regularly?

Please explain this, It doesn't make any sense. kWh is energy, not power:-

I'm glad you asked for clarification as I often struggle with peoples posts and have to guess what they mean.
Hilarious that as the author It makes perfect sense to me but i will add more detail in the hope it then makes sense to others.
The reason I wanted to add cooling is that I have experience of repairing components that have failed due to heat. On very hot days with the inverters running at maximum capacity they get very hot. One could argue that they are designed to run at these temperatures and there should be no need to worry. That of course in my experience is invalid.

Many posts ago (I think it was you) corrected me for using KW and not KWH and you were correct again on that occasion, I recall while typing this in a hurry that as i typed KW I recalled that earlier reply and without thinking added the H!
My advice is not to read any more of my posts as I am clearly an idiot. 😃

Looks like it works well for you. I do understand what you're saying as I have a similar set up with s thermostatic socket (very similar to yours and 2 x 6 inch 15w ac desk fans pointing up sitting on the battery under the inverter. It works very well for cooling, but the main issue I've found is that when they switch on, it disturbs the wifi signal on my Gen1 dongle and I lose connection. I wondered if you had any issues with that?
I was wondering if a couple of usb fans may cause less disturbance to the wifi as they run on dc and use lesser wattage. Any comments are welcome.

The radiator fan uses a dc adapter. Low power and no wifi issues so far.

Thanks for coming back. I attach a pic of my 'Flux Capacitor ' setup with the fans. Since I took this pic I've tidied up the cabling and so far the inverter seems to be ok. :✌

Call me a pedant (again). It's lower case "k", upper case "W" and lower case "h" as required (kW and kWh). For anyone who thinks it doesn't matter, or "you know what I mean", consider the case of mW and MW; both valid units for power except one is milliWatts (thousandths of a Watt; a small value) and one is MegaWatts (a thousand times greater than a kW). This forum is a fantastic resource for learning about Givenergy kit. IMHO, using the correct SI unit and other correct terms just helps everyone to understand exactly and enhances the learning. 😊

I might be a bit of a pedant where units are concerned, but I did spend a fair bit of my carear working with power stations and our steam turbines and generators, 900,000 to 1,350,000 hp...

Truth is the garage door next to the inverter faces south, and although I chose a silver door to reflect the light, on a sunny day it gets quite warm in there. The inverter temperature has gone as high as 69c, and is only supposed to reach a max of 55c. The fans keep it in the high 40s on a hot day, so it works for me, but the problem is the loss of signal occasionally on the wifi dongle. I think over the next few months I'll put in a couple of usb fans which hopefully will cut out the signal blockage.

Agreed. I think a lesson to be learned is to think about what you type, there are always "things" that need doing and typing for me is laborious so tends to get rushed.
Please continue to correct me whenever you see nonsense ( I wont marry you though)
