Inverter settings and combinations - what works?

I am running AC3.0 inverters on 9.5kw batteries on firmware 3012 and software DO.535-A0.535. I am still struggling after a few months of operation to find out conclusively what combinations of inverter settings work together effectively. Here are some questions for which I would love to get answers. If there is single written source that will give me the answers please let me know?
Do all other inverter settings effectively cancel out Eco?
If one sets Timed Charge and Timed Discharge will Eco kick in outside of the times I set for charge and discharge if one leaves Eco enabled?
If one sets Timed Discharge for a long period and the battery runs down to reserve will Eco take over even though it is within the set period of Timed Discharge?
Can Timed Charge and Timed Discharge periods overlap and each perform effectively doing their own thing?
Will Eco operate with Timed Export so that the system reverts to Eco when the Timed Export period has expired or the battery is down to reserve?
Does one have to have a specific Discharge or Export period set to get the battery to discharge (when it is full)?
What determines whether solar generation automatically go to the grid, to the home or to the battery? Is there a given priority? I can see no pattern in this? Perhaps this is a function of the PV inverter more than the GIV-AC3.0 AC-coupled inverter

So many questions and so little time. I am sure there must be something that will give me these answers without having to waste other GE users' time. Just point me to the source, please? So far I have been muddling through and have even been trying OCTO R&D for a while. Some definitive answers would be really useful.

This may not be very helpful to you so sorry for that but I think it depends on what your expectations are for your generation setup. If you are trying to get as much payback/monetary gain from it and on the right tariffs and an appropriate charge and discharge regime will likely be the way to go but if the intention is to self-consume what is generated then that means different settings.

I am very much in the latter camp. At least while there is enough sunlight to charge the batteries each day I want to optimise self-consumption either via the house consumption and into hot water and charging the EV when there is enough excess generation. In the winter when the batteries won't get charged from the solar generation, I will set the system to charge during the cheaper overnight tariff. At the moment while there is plenty of generation I just leave the inverter on eco mode and nothing else gets set. For my purposes, it works well.

I am using a Hybrid Inverter Gen 3 5 kW with a 9.5 kWh Gen 2 battery with the Octopus Flux tariff. I have found that if I set Timed Charge for 02:00-05:00 (Flux off-peak rate period) it will charge up to target (I've set this to 100%) then revert to Eco, exactly as you would expect. In Eco mode the system will use solar power to dynamically meet the load from your home, use the excess if any to keep the battery topped up, and then export any remaining excess to the grid. I haven't used Timed Discharge so I can't comment on that.

I also want to set a Timed Export period for 16:00-19:00 (Flux peak rate period) but I want to stop exporting once I get down to 30% battery capacity, so I have sufficient battery power to get me through to 02:00 when it will start charging again (disregarding any evening solar generation for now). GivEnergy told me there is currently no way to do this unless I tried using Home Assistant and GivTCP. I now have this up and running as an automation on a Raspberry Pi which will switch automatically between Eco and Timed Export between 16:00-19:00 and switch back to Eco mode when my battery falls below 30%. However some of the GivTCP settings and switches don't work as I expected e.g. battery pause mode. Also there are 10 charge/discharge time slots available with target SOC (state of charge, I assume) for each slot, but the SOC is expressed in Watts (not SOC %) and I can't work out how to use them. I haven't found any very helpful documentation so maybe this is all Beta/work in progress.

Happy to share details of my automation if there is any interest. And to learn if anyone knows something I don't.

justpassing Thank you for confirming that. Do you know why PauseCharge doesn't work properly? It seems to pause both charge and discharge (i.e. acts like PauseBoth). Or maybe I'm just not using it correctly.

John A gen2 here, there arf 4 pause settings, off, pause charge, pause discharge, pause both. They all work for me. Are you using givtcp of the portal remote control ?

killythebid thats my setup exactly, only i discharge upto 40% and charge overnight upto 70%.

justpassing Apologies for delayed response. I was trying to set battery pause mode to PauseCharge using GivTCP as part of an automation so I can keep exporting any excess solar during the peak rate period, after the battery has discharged down to my target SOC (while running the house off the battery). In fact it's not really necessary, because my automation repeats every minute checking SOC and once it goes back above target it starts exporting again, so I've stopped trying to use it. This way (assuming there is solar generation) my battery ends the period at more or less target SOC, so I can set it a bit lower.

John A Like you, I'm very confused as to which settings work for what generation of inverters in GivTCP. I may be a bit thick, but a table of feature/description/which gen inverter it works with would be very useful!

Tim I can but will need some help as to what Gen does what as I'm on Gen1.
Also I guess we'd need to single out firmwares aswell as they seem to do different things as a subset of Gen 1,2,3 it would seem.
